CNET Editors' review
Good backup utilities that combine maximum user friendliness with excellent functionality and some helpful extras take the chore out of an essential duty. When all that comes for free, the excuse to blow off backups wears thin. Easeus Todo Backup is just such a free backup and restore utility. Like any good backup tool, it will back up your entire system's current state, data, settings and all, or just what you want it to, including partitions or full disks, and restore your computer in the event of a hard-disk crash or other calamity. Its Disk Cloning feature will help you migrate your operating system and data to a new hard disk when it's time to replace the old one. You can also use it to create bootable CD-ROMs using either Linux or the powerful Windows Pre-installation Environment (PE), which is a big improvement over MS-DOS.
Two things set Todo Backup apart from many other backup utilities (three things, if you count that it's free): its easy-to-use interface and its wizard-based operation. Colorful, large, clearly labeled buttons and icons make it easy for even new computer owners to use, a big plus because they need protection the most yet are usually inexperienced at securing it. The program walks users through its operations and explains each step with detailed instructions, augmented by a good Help file for further assistance.
Todo Backup is freeware and is certified for Windows 7. It downloads as a compressed file but extracts, installs, and opens without fuss.

"disappointing"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 4.5
Pros
Last time I down loaded this backup system I was pleased with it.
Cons
it is not easy to use I could not make it load to my external disk.
it backed up to my C disk. which is definitely not what I needed.
So how do remove it fro there.
I tried the free version with the intention of paying for the upgrade once I had the hang of the free version.
Now Give me instruction to remove this rubbish unfriendly product
And I just may buy it. It would be an idea to give instruction with the download and prevent this sort of thing happening againSummary
Bad taste in mouthresult

"Not what I expected..."
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 4.5
Pros
Did not find any...
Cons
I use Paragon's Backup & Recovery 2011. It has saved my butt quite a few times between Microsoft Update complications and just my being all over the internet daily. Retired....I can do that. Thought I would give this a try. Just after starting it up to backup my system it froze up. Never had a program do this before. I keep a very slim, lean clean machine. Task Manager to stop the process. Wouldn't let me ESC. I thought if it did this now, what could go wrong while trying to re-install a backup image with this software.
Summary
I normally will only try once. Stay with what works for me.

"It works but not as good as it used to"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 4.5
Pros
It will backup or create an image.
Cons
It kept reading that my C drive was unformatted. I restarted the whole PC to see if that would fix the issue but it didn't. I tried a few other things and nothing worked. After a couple of years of using it, I finally decided to spend some money to get a different product.
Summary
You get what you pay for. It's a shame it couldn't remain the same. It used to be really good.

"Free product continues to lose features - still usable"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 4.5
Pros
It's free
It does what it is intended to do quite well
Excellent community-based support forum
Support for newer devices is being added regularly (e.g. USB 3.0)Cons
Features have been steadily removed since version 4.0.0.2
Company support for free product was discontinued with v4.x
No support for differential backups
No ability to create a WinPE bootable CDSummary
The last full-featured free version was 4.0.0.2, and if you don't require the added hardware support in subsequent versions, you'll get the most use from it (if you can find it).
However, there are some nice new features in version 4.5. My favorite is the ability to convert a one-off backup plan to an ongoing scheduled backup.
By removing certain key features (ability to do differential backups, ability to create bootable WinPE disc, etc.) from their free product, EaseUS is hoping users will convert to their (reasonably priced) paid product. Unfortunately, they update their product so frequently that some users have found the upgrade costs to keep current are too high.
If your needs can be met with their free product, it's definitely worth using. I would advise users to be careful when deciding to update their free versions, because key features have been removed from the last two updates (version 4.0.0.5 and 4.5). -
"It Actually Works"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 4.5
Pros
- Runs fast and doesn't freeze up like other backups
- The free version works fine without any major limitations
- Backups run fast
- Schedules actually run when scheduled
- Extraordinarily easy interfaceCons
None - I wish I found this program sooner.
Summary
I've always paid for backup programs only to have them fail on me, so I was reluctant to try this product only because it was free. To my surprise, this free version worked better than most paid versions from other providers I tried previously.

"No way I'm installing 95MB Backup software from China"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 4.5
Pros
As pointed out by CNET Editors, it's free.
Cons
It's inexplicably huge. Who knows what it does. By the way... in case you haven't heard it before, "There's no free lunch". I cancelled my installation.
Summary
Call me 'paranoid'. I don't care. This past week, there was hacking of US/Canadian natural gas pipeline system from some source in China. No way am I installing a 95 Mb behemoth program that has access to ALL the files on my computer. N.F.W.
