Docx2Rtf is a freeware file converter for MS Word 2007 and OpenOffice Sxw and Odt files. Docx2Rtf does not require Office 2007 or OpenOffice installed in order to work. Word 2007 docx files and OpenOffice files will be converted with formatting, but no images. Version 2.4 includes unspecified updates.

Simple concept made easy. This program does not even need to be installed on your computer. it just plain WORKS.

It does exactly what it says. It takes that DOCX file that you would only see working with Microsoft Word 2007, and make an open RTF file format. So if you are using an Open Office program for your word processing, and you receive a DOCX file from a colleague, you don't have to ask them to convert it for you.

Very small download. Starts quickly. Reads docx files and allows you to save them as rtf. Also reads pdf and html files in a pinch. Free and without advertising!

You will lose any special formatting contained in the docx file.
Summary
This is a great alternative to downloading any Microsoft add on stuff. I tried using an online converter to convert from docx to doc which worked fine, but it took several minutes.

small file size, one click converts to pdf and opens adobe reader to display the new file. Convert to rtf works well. Takes ver little memory. Functions cleanly and very quickly.
