Data Recovery is a reliable and practical single-function application for recovering deleted files on your system.
Data Recovery requires no installation and runs in a neatly designed, straightforward interface. The program scans a user-selected drive and displays removed files in a sortable list. For a quick search, specify part of the file name. The list contains file details such as folder, file type, size, and attributes. You can then choose which files you want to recover and specify the destination of the recovered files. Data Recovery also has a wipe feature for completely removing the located files.
There aren't any bells and whistles, but users looking for an efficient and reliable file recovery tool will find this freeware handy and useful.
FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS undeletion. Undelete NTFS compressed files. Undelete EFS encrypted files. Wipe out deleted files never to be recovered again. Runnable from floppy disk. Search by partial string in the file name. Undelete whole files in a directory. Neither installation nor DLLs is needed. Windows Vista supported.
What's new in this version:
This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
Instantly found my deleted files from my Sony ICR Digital Voice Recorder.
Recovered all of my .mp3 files intact and with no glitches
Files still had the original time stamps, easy to locate the .mp3 files I needed to recover.
If the files were too large, the program would need to be closed, opened, and the location of the recovery files had to be re-directed.
I would actually pay for this program. It saved my job from my dumb mistake.
It will recover data, so it gets two stars for at least doing what it's supposed to.
The licensing system is horrendous. Their support is 10x worse. If you make the slightest change to your system, your license will become invalid. Sometimes this happens simply from rebooting. The zenith of their tech support on this issue is "only install on one PC" and they reset your license. After a while they just stop assisting. There are too many free options that work just as well to pay money for horrible support and programming.

It failed to do anything but install a bunch of programs I did not want. It reset my homepage in my web browser and reset my search engine to its crappy tool. I had to waste 20 minutes uninstalling and resetting my settings. This is a pure virus.
I lost all my data and photos, from my PC. Some said there is nothing usable and I am searching over the past 24 hours almost ready to scream and give up all hope. I found Amrev Data Recovery software on a Google search and more recovery software and follow the step by step after few hours my entire data file, Massages & Photo are recover, wow thanks God!! It's really awesome data recovery software Thanks Amrev Software Thanks a Lot
Very fast recovery process (at least for big files)
Overall, this software recovered all data that I didn't think I would get back. It was very fast and would ask me to "overwrite" files quite often, but it eventually worked.
I needed to retrieve a deleted file from a Digital Secure card. It would not recognize my camera as a lettered drive of any kind. It will only retrieve deleted data on a card if you have a car reader installed as a drive.
All in all this program could not assist me. So I can't say if it worked or not. Too bad it needed a specific drive letter to work with.
Data Recovery was fairly simple and easy to use. When I realized that I had hit "delete all" on the camera, I nearly broke down in tears. It helped me recover the majority of the pictures from our trip to Montana. Although it didn't recover all of them, it made me extremely happy to have most of them back.
Frustratingly slow, but since I didn't have to pay any money to recover my pics from our trip to Montana, I dealt with how long it took. Some pictures came back with part of the pic missing, while others couldn't be recovered at all. I think I was able to recover about 90% of the pictures.
Overall, this program recovered many pics that I didn't think I would get back. It was very slow and would ask me to "overwrite" pics quite often, but it eventually worked.
