"Gold Standard for Video libraring"
Version: DVDpedia 5.0.3
Pros
Fast, neat, all-inclusive, timely updates, great customer service
Cons
Nothing-Top shelf product
Summary
Have used DVDpedia for years and consider it to be the finest consumer grade software available. They continue to re-think their product and add new features all the time. Other software people-take notice!!
-
"Great product, customizable, frequent updates."
Version: DVDpedia 4.6.6
Pros
Attractie layouts, easy to use.
Cons
Wish it had a IOS mate for my iPod Touch. Then I wouldn't get movies that I've already seen perhaps years ago when I go to the video store.
-
"Great product!"
Version: DVDpedia 4.6.3
Pros
Great way to keep track of movies and very user-friendly
Cons
Sometimes difficult to find movies unless you add movie-star names to search.
Summary
Excellent database & versatile for users needs.
-
"Great app for those with large DVD libraries"
Version: DVDpedia 4.6.3
Pros
Easy to use, finds a large number of the DVDs I have in my collection.
Cons
Doesn't seem to have a 'Full' database. Quite often it doesn't find the details for a DVD I have, nor finds the cover picture, and I have to enter the details manually which can be time consuming
Summary
A great app with all the features for those with large collections, though watch out for any obscure DVDs you have, chances are the app won't find the details and/or the cover pic.
-
"Great DVD cataloger! Just what I've been looking for."
Version: DVDpedia 4.6.3
Pros
Very intuitive. Once you get better at retrieving the right description it went very well. Would like to see more choices for exporting lists. Maybe in future version?
Cons
No real cons. Learning curve very easy.
Summary
Best, most useful app I've bought in a long time. Period.
-
"Great app for organising your DVD collection"
Version: DVDpedia 4.6.2
Pros
Has found images for most of my collection & saves time filling in all the details.
Cons
Hate the DVD's in my collection it can't find. Have to provide my own cover image and write details by copying what's on the box cover
Summary
Great all-round app for large or small DVD collections.
-
"good DVD cataloging program"
Version: DVDpedia 4.6.2
Pros
Nice interface, very handy for keeping track of movies
Cons
Nothing off the top of my head
Summary
A very useful program to keep track of movies. Nice user interface.
-
"Everything I need in a DVD movie collection cataloger."
Version: DVDpedia 4.6
Pros
Small footprint, loads fast, many data import source options, customizable data fields, several export options, bar code scanning, drag & drop missing cover art (needed very infrequently on really old movies), developer extremely responsive.
Cons
Won't export to iPhone/iPod if you select Amazon as the source.
Summary
I certainly haven't personally tried all the Mac movie catalogers available but I can't imagine anything else you'd need that this app doesn't already have.
One additional Con: When adding a movie, it's not very intuitive that you need to click on the right-facing arrow in the lower right-hand part of the add-movie screen to be able to select a different title if the initial search doesn't pick the movie you want to add to your database. It's explained in the help files but few Mac people ever read those. So that interface could use a little work to make life easier for the first time users. -
"Great application"
Version: DVDpedia 4.5.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After using DVD Cache for years, and receiving excellent support, the program broke under Snow Leopard. Several attempts to contact them resulted in no response. I did some research and found DVDpedia. My inquiry as to compatibility with Snow Leopard and whether it could import the database from DVD Cache was answered in three minutes! Answer to both questions was yes!
I downloaded the program and within 2 minutes had my entire database, posters and all, imported into DVDpedia. Much better program than DVD Cache!

"Great Program"
Version: DVDpedia 4.5.2
Summary

Great Program. I also synch my catalog with several Macs using DropBox and sync to my iPhone with DVDPedia. I used DVDAttache for a few years and imported most data without having to reenter. I compared quite a few before switching.
