DFX Audio Enhancer improves your computer's overall audio quality with five different settings. It can even turn your onboard computer speakers into a more advanced audio playback system.

Pros

Universal audio adjustments: DFX Audio Enhancer can help improve the audio quality of music files as well as video content.

Skin selection: Customize DFX Audio Enhancer's look with a number of onboard skins.

Cons

Unclear options: The three primary modes are Music Type 1, Music Type 2, and Speech. While Speech might be self-explanatory, there is no clear indication as to what separates the two types of music.

Dynamic boost: The dynamic boost control was very finicky. With even a little bit of a boost to this setting, a very noticeable amount of artificial hiss was introduced to the sound.

Bottom Line

If you're currently unhappy with the way your computer sounds, DFX Audio Enhancer will help improve your overall audio quality. Just be careful not to overdo it with the dynamic boost.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of DFX Audio Enhancer 11.302.

"Annoyance Marketing Strategy"

June 28, 2015  |  By daysky

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.400

Pros

-Free trial did not seem to have an expiration
-Noticeable volume difference

Cons

-Of 10, you could only increase volume to 5 so you couldn't see how loud it really gets in the full version
-Pops up every 10 minutes or so, whether you are using audio or not, to ask if you want to continue the trial
-You cannot minimize it so you have to keep sliding it down to the middle of the screen every 10 minutes

Summary

Probably works, but annoyance tactics made me unwilling to support the company. I am about to uninstall it and try something else.

"good movie sound.full screen killer"

June 05, 2015  |  By jayofkays

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.400

Pros

basic improved my pc volume.

Cons

If you play on fullscreen the pop up to purchase the full version either leaves top or bottom toolbars when you minimise the ad. Hindered lower movie control useless unless I repeated restarting movie. Kinda upset that I paid for jet audio plus and they sponsored an a product that tells you to upgrade way too often. Too bad I was going to buy it as Jet audio is great and this helped some (though ? on headphones.)

Summary

Reminders galore killed this sale.

"Maybe good, but too limited, too much nagging"

December 10, 2014  |  By perlgeek

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.305

Pros

Seemed to increase my laptop's speaker volume above 100%

Cons

Relentless popups requesting me to upgrade
Does not give you much freedom to actually test the software unless you buy it

Summary

I wanted a way to increase my laptop's speaker volume when I wasn't by my external speakers. I found this software and despite the numerous warnings in the DFX Audio Enhancer reviews here, I decided to give it a try. It honestly seemed to increase my speaker volume, at least there was a noticeable difference when it interrupted my movie playing on Netflix asking me to press "Ok" to continue using it or upgrade.

This software might be fantastic. It seemed that it did exactly what I was looking for. *However*, because almost every time I tried to adjust with the settings I was met with a, "This is a pro feature"-type popup window and because it wouldn't even let me finish watching a movie without taking over my screen and disabling itself to upsell me on the software, there is no way in the world I would ever purchase this.

I buy software and apps for my phones all the time. I am not buying this because it's crippled too severely to actually test and see if it'll be a good option for me plus the fact that there's too many upgrade requests. I fully understand wanting to be paid for work you create, I write programs myself. However, this is way too much and offering too little for some of us to actually be swayed into buying it.

It is a shame, it seems like it might be good software and something I would write about on my various sites to help other people. Please move to a full featured or nearly-fully-featured but time-limited version of this, or even let people keep using it after the x-day trial with the current trial limitations. Personally, I think the creators are hurting themselves by not letting people use the software more fully. It cost them a sale from me at the moment, but I'm definitely willing to revisit this later on to see if the trial limitations have changed. Like I said, I think it'd be useful for many people who have poor or low volume with their laptop speakers.

"works when you buy it"

October 19, 2014  |  By scratchmb

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.105

Pros

It improves audio for my headphones for either the ones I use on my PC and the Sennheiser headphones I have for my TV that I run from my computer through HDMI. Basically, I'm in a tiny apartment, with paper thin walls. So headphones are a must, both so I don't bother the other tenants, and they don't bother me. What it comes down to is my computer and my television is my entertainment system and DFX gives me that big sound. I've created tons of preset templates for audio equalization to appease both sets of headphones for either different genres of music as well as different movie audio formats.

Cons

They don't provide free updates. They keep plugging Max Recorder, which I have already purchased and upgraded as it's a great tool. I also wish they would find a way to recognize me as a customer so they wouldn't keep asking for my email address. Of course I can ignore both of these, but the point is, it is just unprofessional from a company that has a lot of audio technology and DFX Audio Enhancer is simply just a taste. The biggest con is it in not that friendly to get it setup properly in Windows 7. Once I got around all of the nuisance fixes, which I had to do mostly myself, it is incredible. I am not fond of software that is troublesome especially when I pay for it.

Summary

A working version of DFX, and making sure that all of your audio and video programs are plugin compatible with DFX, such as Windows Media, Winamp, and VLC for examples, it really puts a lot of punch into your audio files. The trick is learning how to create user templates for different applications, and knowing how to get the best out of your preferences. Half the fun is tinkering. If you have malware, then you probably downloaded it from a third party site. If you don't know how to get rid of malware, then you shouldn't download anything. It's your choice to own a computer and use the internet. Yet is it also your responsibility to learn how to protect yourself and your computer. If you do, then in truth, you really don't have anything to complain about. Whining is only for the wont of ignorance. Think about it.

"Nag, nag, nag!"

September 15, 2014  |  By DraculX

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.200

Pros

Great sound.

Cons

Nags you to death!

Summary

Once installed and used, this app will nag you every 5 to ten minutes about upgrading to the full PAID version. It will even TURN OFF the sound enhancement during some of these nags. In addition, what I mean by "Nags" are actually little pop-up windows(in addition to turning off the sound enhancement), which remind you that you are not using the full version and supplies two buttons that BOTH link to the DFX website. One goes direct to the purchase page, the other to the home page - to get rid of the pop-up(and turn the enhancement back on), you HAVE to close the pop-up window. Blindly quick-clicking the buttons just doesn't do it, because then you have the app opening your browser(or a new tab in one that is already open). I would NOT suggest using the free version during ANY sort of important or vital work, because of all the interruptions, and program window-switching that happens. In fact, I recommend NOT using this P.O.S. free-ware at ALL! The hassles and trouble are just not worth it.
You can not turn this on and sit down to listen to any audio file or track, because it WILL eventually turn itself OFF! Which forces you to stop whatever you are doing, focus on the idiot pop-up purchase reminder, and then attempt to return to whatever your previous task was - whether it was relaxing and enjoying music, or listening to something while working on your computer.

Unless you intend to purchase this app, AVOID it like a Trojan Virus - it is just a complete and TOTAL waste of your time!

"Too many nags"

July 07, 2014  |  By jangedoo

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.200

Pros

None found

Cons

Frequently (every 5 minutes or so) shows message to buy the full version. Uninstalled within a few hours.

Summary

All it does is increases your volume a bit. But you can achieve this "volume boost" by enabling "Loudness Equalization" of your audio. Go to "Sound" from Control Panel, choose "Speakers", click "Properties", then in the "Enhancements" tab check "Loudness Equalization" and you will have the same sound effect (as far I can tell) as this stupid, constantly nagging software.

"AMAZING PRODUCT,EVEN AT PARTLY FUNCTIONAL FREE VERSION!"

April 12, 2014  |  By sbose64

 |  Version: DFX Audio Enhancer 11.113

Pros

satisfactory enhancement of all the key components of audio playback without distorting it.gives incredible boost to your multimedia speakers that you never imagined existed.and the free lite version gives just half of the full enhancement that seems enough.you can even move the modifying sliders a bit more and save it on your own settings, grea indeed.

Cons

the 15 minutes interval auto deactivation and ask for a buy is too annoying.cant they reduce it to one hour?

Summary

this is a superior audio processing software available from fxsound and compares better than its competitor sandbox from dolby labs.its worth to pay for the fully featured version that enhances the computer audio so awesomely thou many, like me,feel satisfied with the slimmed down free product.qualifies as one of those essential wares for any pc.go for it.
