Still new...I need to play with it more..
I am an instructor of AutoCAD for 12 years now and after using CorelCAD, I can say it can be an AutoCAD replacement. While I am using it , sometimes I forget that I am using CorelCAD not AutoCAD. As a graphic designer, CorelCAD is so useful specially when presenting ideas to people. I create technical drawings in CorelCAD...then export it to my favorite graphics software (CorelDRAW)...then add effects to my drawing..and create a perfect presentation. Everyday I discover something new and powerful about this software. Great job Corel, CorelCAD is what I am waiting for for years.. With my knowledge of CorelDRAW, CorelPhotopaint, and now CorelCAD..now I can say I am a complete designer.
There are free CAD software that appear to have similar functionality.
For example, there is a program called DraftSight that has been available for free ( www.draftsight.com ). The CorelCAD interface looks very much the same as it!
I fail to see the originality of CorelCAD nor its price justification considering that there are free alternatives with sufficient functionality. I did not notice any significant contributions to my workflow with CorelCAD.
There are many differences between the free solutions available and CorelCAD, such as automation (including LISP support), 3D solid modelling and export capability to CorelDRAW for example. - Gerard @ Corel.
