Editors' Review

Like previous releases, COMODO's free antivirus solution for Windows offers solid full-time antivirus protection and basic features comparable to similar freeware, including a desktop widget, firewall protection, Game Mode, drag-and-drop submission of suspicious apps for analysis, and cloud-based definitions, but it also comes with some unique extras, such as the COMODO Dragon secure Web browser, which is free, and the optional Geek Buddy support service, which requires a paid license.

Installing COMODO Antivirus involves several options, such as enabling cloud-based analysis of suspicious programs, which we accepted, and COMODO's free Secure DNS Server option, which we declined because it changes your PC's network settings, though we tried it before and found it reasonably fast. The Geek Buddy and related Anti-Error services provide live technical help, apparently, though they require activation. COMODO Antivirus' main interface is like other free antivirus tools in general layout and look, and you'll probably have little trouble setting things up, though a splash screen describes how to get started, and the Online Help options include an extensive manual and searchable forums. COMODO Antivirus automatically updated the latest definitions and started a full system scan, which found a couple of issues (nothing serious, thankfully) and removed them with a reboot for good measure (we could also opt for Geek Buddy help to make sure our PC was clean). COMODO Antivirus seemed to take a bit longer to update than similar tools and often involved a reboot; we didn't mind since we like thorough updates. Dragon generally lives up to its billing as "a faster, more secure version of Chrome."

We found that COMODO Antivirus also plays well with similar tools, including Microsoft Security Essentials, though we suggest taking care when mixing antivirus solutions. We're confident that COMODO Antivirus 6.2 is up to the task of protecting your PC, though.

"Nothing but a scam to sell upgrades. Don't bother"

 |  Version: Comodo Antivirus

None that I have found yet.
If you like wasting time and downloading things, then I guess this is a "pro"

After a "geek buddy" scan, it told me I had this and that problem with various standard things like registry errors and junk files. But when I clicked the button to fix them it connected me to some online chat where the solution to every problem seemed to be a $99 upgrade. The "person" on the other end uf the chat could not and would not answer the question of if this app is able to fix the problems it found or not. He seemed to be more interested in getting access to my opperating system. NO THANKS!
Further more, it also caused my web browser to stop playing streaming videos, and broke whatever webplayers my browser uses.

All I wanted was a simple free anti-virus program that would find and remove viruses and malware on my computer. This program is obviously NOT designed or intended to do that. Instead it wants to take over your browser, wants you to use ITS browser, and it forces you to chat with a "web geek" who tells outright lies. Totally dishonest. Their gambit her obviously is to find little old grandmas who barely know how to turn their computers on and con them into spending more money to fix phantom problems.

"can't install without geekbuddy"

December 17, 2015

 |  Version: Comodo Antivirus

Never got the install to work. At the end of the install I was prompted to call geekbuddy and that is when everything went to hell on my Windows XP. The guy would not listen to what I was saying about my desktop set to single click and kept double clicking everything opening too many instances and lock up the computer. Then just ended the call with my system not working. When I call the next morning they treated me like I was an idiot and just kept insulting me and asking stupid questions. One again not listening that I could not boot to a desktop and keep asking my to click on the geekbuddy icon, Da no desktop, no Icon, arggg! I had to hang up before I went postal!!!

What I learned. Do not accept anything that say repair system. Do not call geekbuddy unless you are clueless. Don't try the windows system restore as now your registry is FUBAR'ed
Spend hours removing and reinstalling you system

I will Never install this as Comodo would only transfer me to geekbuddy and today is not a good day to abuse Jim
Too bad Really I like their Certs, I have many
