Syncing folders can be a very useful activity, whether you're backing up important documents or keeping what's on a portable device, like a USB drive, synced up with what's on your computer. Carbon Folder is a simple utility that makes regularly syncing folders a piece of cake.

The program's interface is plain and extremely easy to navigate, as the whole thing is really just a wizard that walks you through the syncing process. Users choose the two folders they want to sync and then select whether they want to sync in both directions, or just from one folder to the other. Users can also choose whether they want to include subfolders. That's really all there is to it; from there, the program syncs the folders as instructed, and also gives users the option of saving the project for future use. This is extremely handy if, for example, you want to regularly sync a folder on your USB drive with your My Documents folder on your computer. Once you've created that task in Carbon Folder, all you have to do in the future is select it from the list of saved projects. Though it's true that Carbon Folder doesn't come with a Help file, we can't say that this is a major drawback; the program is so straightforward that there's really no reason for documentation. Overall, we found Carbon Folder to be a simple, no-frills way to sync folders that's suitable for even inexperienced users.

Carbon Folder installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to everyone.

"This software is alright but I've see much better"

    September 29, 2010   |   By Zach-798

    Version: Carbon Folder 1.2

    Pros

    It works and works well

    Cons

    No need for it

    Summary

This software is good but you might as well use the windows file transfer which I have found to be faster. Plus you will save memory space in not using it.

    "Does what it's supposed to."

    November 17, 2009   |   By UlrikP

    Version: Carbon Folder 1.1

    Pros

    Easy to use, dependable.

    Cons

The free edition doesn't include a schedule option.

    Summary

Small, simple, basic file-sync program. You have to launch it manually, there's no scheduling option. However, considering the price of zero $, I can live with that. Also, there are no ads etc.
For the ordinary pc-user, it's recommendable.

    "Synchronization, simple method, flawless backups."

    August 25, 2009   |   By claytonyuen

    Version: Carbon Folder 1.1

    Pros

Carbon Folder allows you to backup data by folder via synchronization. You may add new files to your backup and not affect old, unchanged files. Or you may backup a whole folder and delete the old files. Supports subfolders.

    Cons

Synchronization depends on shared folders on the network. If you are using a mapped path, then lose the path, the Carbon Folder will not recognize this and run without warning. BEWARE of Assumed Backups!

    Summary

Many sysops rely on scheduled backups and are disappointed when they find that the backups are bad. Carbon Folder's simple method provides excellent, successful backups via synchronization.

    "No assistance provided"

    March 14, 2008   |   By bagladymo

    Version: Carbon Folder 1

    Pros

    .

    Cons

There is no Help or Read Me for this. I would think this should be supplied as it

is for everything else I've downloaded. If there is such a thing, please send it to me.

It SEEMED self explanatory, but after I 'swapped files' there wasn't anything (that I could tell) happened.
