Atrise ToRTF is a no-frills program that lets users convert various types of text documents to Rich Text Format. The program is very basic and specific in what it does, but it does serve its purpose.

The program's interface is bare-bones, consisting of a small blue window with the text "Drop Files Here." Users can drag and drop files into the program, but they can also right-click on the interface to access a menu. Either way, once you select a file, the program converts it to an RTF, which it saves in the same directory as the source file. Users can convert single files or entire folders of them, but that's pretty much it as far as features; the program does nothing else and has no other options or settings. The program's online Help file was clearly written by someone who doesn't speak English well, but it's sufficient. Our only quibble with this program is the fact that if it's not able to create an RTF file for some reason, it simply won't. The first file we tried with the program did nothing, but we had no indication of that fact; no error message or alert. The program did convert other files from the same version of Word with no problems, but it steadfastly refused that particular file. The fact that it's virtually impossible to troubleshoot when something goes wrong is quite frustrating. But otherwise, the program worked without problems, and isn't a bad choice for users who need to perform this task frequently.

Atrise ToRTF has a 30-day trial period. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.
