Publisher's Description
From Mark Grebe:
This is the home page of the Macintosh OSX Port of David Firth's Fantastic Atari 800 Emulator. I have ported the SDL version of this emulator to Mac OSX, and added a full native Cocoa interface, including Preferences, Menus, File Associations, Help and more. Unlike the first primitive release, it now does not require libSDL to be installed seperately, but includes it within the application package. It does however require ROM image files from the original Atari systems, which are not included here.
What's new in this version:
- Note, this may be the last release supporting PPC, 10.4, and possibly 10.5. If you have any bugs you need fixed or new features you feel you have to have for these older versions, please email me and I will consider them.
Bugs Fixed:
- Fixed issues with arrow keys in full screen menu and some of the Atari arrow key mappings.
- Fixed issues with assigning tab, return, and delete as joystick keys when using international key mappings.<... See all new features

Well, I got rid of my collection of Aari 8 bit computers a while back. So what do I do now? -
"Excellent (said in Mr. Burns voice)"

This is one of the best apps I own, up there with MacMame and Stella. One note, I had a problem with "can't open disk image!" errors for the longest time, which I tracked down to the fact that my copy of Atari800MacX was installed in a folder called Games ? inside Applications -- the funky "f" broke something in the program.
Anyhoo, the program is a godsend if you're an Old Skool Atari 8-bit gamer. Shamus! Shamus II! Necromancer! Archon! It's a good time to be alive.
(The only thing I'd ask for is support for joystick simulation using the arrow keys, rather than the 10-key pad, which doesn't exist on a Powerbook of course). -
"Wow! Way to go Mark! Truly a 2.0 !"

I'd like to thank the programmers whose hard work made this conversion possible. It's GREAT, works wonderfully. Playing all these silly old games is like opening a door to the past. They're all fun and I'm so happy to have them. -
"Awesome app"
Version: Atari800MacX 1.4.0

Very grateful for this lovely and free app. I am especially thrilled by the possibility to go in full screen mode, and to configure the keyboard as joystick. The only little issue I have is iTunes starts spewing crap as soon as I fire up the program. Nonetheless, I've spent many joyous hours with this app. Big thanks to the developer!
