Diablo II MPQ Tool is a tool originally intended to facilitate the modding for Diablo II. It enables you to extract/insert files from the Blizzard games (Diablo II, Starcraft, Warcraft III, and also World of Warcraft with external list files - see forum for such operation) to create mods for these games. Since the 1.0a8 version, a Diablo II Saved Game editor is provided, enabling you to change the stats and skills (and more) of a Single Player saved game, for both 1.09 and 1.10 version of Diablo II. Note that an unsupported Classic version can be downloaded from the Product page!

In any event, does anyone know of a good way to do item modding or jsut add items in your inventory on a mac? I know you can do it for windows, but I haven't come upon a mac program.

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The core of this app seems to be making mods for the Mac version of Diablo, but what most people (including myself) appear to be interested in is boosting gold and experience, or tweaking skill points. (For example, if you invest your skill points in the wrong tree). You can also cheat big time, giving yourself outrageous skill points, getting quest rewards multiple times and so on, but this tool tells you if you are doing something illegitimate, just to prick your conscience. I like that.
Doesn't cheating spoil the game? Well yes and no. I have a professional life and a family which doesn't leave much time for games - certainly less than the average teenager - but I still want to get maximum value out of the games I buy and (let's face it) games are not to be taken too seriously. Hacks like this help me experience the higher levels of one of the greatest games for the Mac without putting in weeks of hack and slash. After all, if you have completed normal level with each character class without cheating, the only thing left is tougher monsters, higher level skills and more interesting items.
I'd like to see an item editor, and a way to edit mercenary stats (including the iron golem). I got a rapid reply from the developer saying this was on the way, so a good few stars for support. There have been some weird quest related bugs in earlier versions, but they seem to be getting fixed.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I am very dissapointed with this program. it HAD possibilities, but fell way short of my expectations. After you update your character and begin playing, as soon as your character gets enough points to advance a level, it resets you back to level 1 and you're screwed because you can't use any of your high magic or weapons anymore, and all your money falls onto the floor. This makes this program USELESS. I was really hoping this would be the editor of choice for Mac OSX, but alas, it was not to be. Also I was very dissapointed that there was no item editor. Nice try, Mr. Programmer, but I suggest you work on this program a lot harder and correct these problems and add the item editor. If all this was fixed and added to the program, and it worked, I would gladly pay for it. as it is now, it went straight into the trash and got flushed with the other refuse. Sorry. Don't bother with this one. My suggestion is use some of the old OS9 ones that still work in classic.
