- Version reviewed: Anagram 2.10
If you've ever spotted a piece of crucial information while surfing the Internet or reading an e-mail, you might have stumbled trying to find a way to copy it and keep it organized. Anagram claims to be the perfect software for this situation.
The program has a unique interface that takes a trip to the Help menu to understand. However, after some research and experimentation, users should be familiar with Anagram. To activate it, simply highlight some text from an e-mail or Web site and hit CTRL+C twice. This will bring up Microsoft Outlook and Anagram's small window. Anagram's main window displays the highlighted text and offers commands to the right. Users can choose to paste this information as a Contact in Outlook, as an Event in Outlook, as a Task in Outlook, or create a sticky note for their desktop. Depending on the choice, the information fits itself into each of these options, some working better than others.
Anagram is not a perfect program. You'll need every bit of the 45-day trial period to get used to figuring out which option is best for each specific bit of information. In addition, this program probably will only appeal to users who frequently find themselves constantly cutting and pasting info. For those users, this is a great tool for cataloging.

Version: Anagram 2.10
"Have used Anagram for years. I use it nearly every day."
Pros: Easy to use. Just copy, copy and BAM, you have a new calendar entry or contact entry right in Outlook. I use this to put people's email signatures into an Outlook contact, instantly. My travel itinerary ends up right there in my Blackberry calendar.
Cons: Once in a while a part of the copied text will end up in the wrong field. But you can quickly fix that. Also you can easily email Anagram support and they will address this new format.
Summary: Very powerful tool for the busy executive. Love it. Indispensable.

Version: Anagram 2.10
Pros: Great at capturing contacts, appts, notes, tasks to Outlook or Outlook to text. Nice added features like QuickLink, MapIt. Seamless integration into Outlook. Complex addresses capture better than expected. Swap and rescan features fix many mistakes.
Cons: The MapIt feature needs to be updated; maybe tie in to GoogleMaps. get rid of %20 HTML spaces in URL. I wish I could grab a whole season of kids' soccer schedule or contacts into Outlook in one capture.
Summary: I have used anagram for a few years now and think it is one of the best small apps in my system tray. The guy behind the technology is responsive and clearly knows his stuff. The code is rock solid reliable. Good job. Can't wait for the next app fro... read more >>
