"Seems to get the job done."

Pros
I've used Kildisk several times when I'm donating an older PC to charity. I have no reason to believe that people are any more nosey than they need to be but I also didn't feel like going through an entire hard drive and trying to remember what files that might have confidential information, etc.
Using the free download and the instructions provided with it, you can create a bootable CD (in the past, I've done 3.5" diskettes). You run Killdisk from the OS kernal on the CD to wipe a machine's primary drive.Cons
None that I can see. Some people seem to feel that some form of multiple pass process is required to be really thorough. Maybe I'm missing something but if Killdisk really writes a binary zero to every byte on the drive, that sounds pretty darn "wiped" to me.
Admittedly, I have no particular knowledge of DOD standards or Gutzman algorithms, etc.Summary

will erase files and free space. Anything more than the 1 pass it does is a waste of time unless you have a very old drive (well under the Gb mark).

won't run on older OS's
Summary
The Erasing tools I use are this, Eraser(the old 5.6 ver), DBAN, and the secure erase built into ata drives(this will wipe areas not accessible to most other wiping software if you are concerned about forensic level wiping).

"Keeping things simple"

In a few steps, the job is done; without learning a boat-load of support detail.
Cons
Not enough about ISO image and bootdisc creation, on preliminary download pages; for new users. Something that says "program requires software, to burn ISO image on boot disc" might help. For those familiar with this format its obvious; but I spent a long time isolating this small detail, from a succession of other issues. It is very simple,once the image is properly burned.
Summary
I like simple software; when it is something I may not use very often. This fits that bill. I don't fault the software for my lack of knowledge, on available software, that will burn an ISO image. Perhaps a brief mention, or link on sight page, or download pages; explaining ISO file formats..... since many people may not have software at hand; to burn this format. All in all, a nice little program.

this is the greatest toll ever ,never pay for service again to do the job of reinstall after virus attack or heavy malware ,i had it for years ,Iowa Boy made this in college ,i got it free ,you can write 0's to the drive to wipe or just let it does best ,you control how you want it none ,easy and really fast on bigger drives ,i recomend to all use's get it ,buy it you wont be sorry ,Dave

there are no con's when you buy it ,i got lucky for free ,it will do multi passes ,as many as you want ,this free vision just let's you one pass,but if you set to 0's you won't need another pass ,i have never had ant problem lettin it run it's slower pass ,which is more secruity,no problem ,wiped everthing,then load your operating system
