This simple yet effective utility fixes corrupted video files in AVI, DivX, XviD, RM, RMVB, ASF, WMV, AC3, and WMA formats. The self-explanatory interface lets you easily manage numerous files. To fix a file, all you do is select it and click Repair. The repair process runs quickly and can be stopped at any moment. Unfortunately, the program offers no configuration options. You can't convert among file types, adjust any output parameters, or even choose the directory for or name of repaired files. Nevertheless, this application does its main job well enough that we can reccomend it for simple video repairs.

Pros
I have tried out this software now on a couple of .avi files. The first file was recovered enough to play and recognise, but was not watchable. The second file was completely recovered. Both times I used the Advanced Mode, so I don't know how effective Fast Mode is.

"Did enough; needed a conversion program to finish job"

Created a full-size temporary avi file which had the corrected codec tags

The repaired file was only of size 2k. However I used a conversion program on the repair_tmp file; converting it to mp4. The conversion program could not open the original (bad) file.
Summary
I now have a playable video; albeit now in a different format. It took an additional program but who cares? This repair program did the heavy lifting.

I had a 250MB video file (wmv). It woud play in Winamp, but I could not jump into any position in the file (I think there was a problem with the timecode...).
So I downloaded this program and ran it. It seems to be in a endless loop stuck at 129MB during conversion. The program is taking up 1Gb of virtual memor (though only 7MB of physical memoty). I have no idea what it is doing.
Of major concern, is that it managed to shut down ZoneAlarm twice (Although ZoneAlarm restart, but it of concern that my anti-virus security software was shutdown and Video program was running and free to do anything).
Also, ZoneAlarmg ave a warning message to say that I had changed the date/time backwards. I did no such thing. And perhaps this software was trying to fool ZoneAlarm that I did not have a valid license and making it shut down? (i.e. people sometimes turn the clock back if software licence has expired). I have no idea why it would think that as I have a 2 year license to ZoneAlarm Securty Sofware.
I advise people to be caution and not to install this program.
Also, the executable is RepairVideo.exe from www.repairvideo.com (I think there is another program on Download.com with the same name?).
I am very worried.... ZoneAlarm is running a full scan has has been running for 8 minutes and it was not even scanned single file!!
In any case install at your own risk. May be there is a genuine reason for all of this behaviour?. -

Did not repair mpg files, wmv in particular. Some were repaired, others it said it repaired were not.

I was in the middle of rendering an .AVI file. So far, it has been rendering for DAYS. At 2 GB size, it got corrupt and I could not continue rendering. I thought maybe if I could fix the .AVI file, it would continue to render. I tried all the other .AVI fix programs here and none of them fixed it. This one fixed the 2GB .AVI file!!! Not only that, when I set my program to continue the render, it worked...saving me a LOT of time. The program doesn't cliam to work with Vista, but I used it with Vista...just remember to install as administrator and run the program as administrator.

It failed to repair a 698MB avi on Advanced mode.
It failed to repair the Repaired file.
It failed to repair that Repaired file in Fast Mode.
Then it failed to repair that Repaired file too.
In 10 days time Repair Video Inc want $35 from me- haha.Summary
It didn't repair the broken avi.
And it didn't repair the allegedly Repaired file either.
Thankfully VideoLAN's VLC player temporarily repairs files and it played fine (just as it did prior to any attempted repair with Repair Video Inc's $35 worth of failed repair attempts).
Bottom line - don't waste your time or cash. -

I apparently had a corrputed memory card in my camera. This program was able to save most of the files! It didn't fix all of them, but I'm much happier now!
Cons
It did some screwy things like re-wrap a video file to fill the space (including the same section over and over), but only did this once.
