Many people prefer to use a standalone disk management utility instead of the Windows Disk Manager for resizing and moving partitions, formatting disks, and other critical tasks. Until recently, most such tools have been premium software, but Aomei Partition Assistant Home Edition is a full-featured freeware disk management utility that can even be used commercially, which is great news for home and small businesses.
It can create, convert, hide, format, delete, wipe, resize, copy, split, merge, and move partitions, including altering existing partitions without data loss or corruption, on hard drives, flash drives, and similar storage devices. It works in Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7, both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.
Partition Assistant's blue tones, linear disk capacity displays, and toolbar make it a good fit for Office and similar suites, and the left-hand navigation panel and full menus not only display the program's features but make it a cinch to access them. Partition Assistant displayed our system's three physical disks (SSD, HDD, and USB) as well as each disk's partitions. We selected a nearly empty 140GB partition on our 2.5-inch hard drive and started by changing the drive letter and label, moving on to various formatting, resizing, and splitting options.
Since this drive only held an out-of-date backup, we weren't worried about reformatting and resizing it, but Partition Assistant didn't lose any data that we didn't deliberately overwrite by reformatting the disk. One especially useful feature is the ability to hide partitions. Many users like to "overprovision" their SSDs by partitioning off a percentage of the capacity to prevent all the drive's memory cells from filling. Hiding the partition makes it easy to keep from using it accidentally. Partition Wizard also has three Wizards to handle important jobs: Extend Partition, Disk Copy, and Partition Copy. The Partition Copy Wizard let us specify Quick Copy, which only copies the used space, and Sector-by-Sector, which copies the entire partition structure to a new disk.
Aomei Partition Assistant Home Edition would seem to be the most powerful and capable freeware disk partition utility we've tried. It's highly recommended for all users, and especially those with multidisk systems.

Summary
Had to increase size of partition (C:) on Win7. Tried using the Microsoft Disk Management tool, but had a hard time understanding exactly what to do to get the additional space from partition (D:) contiguous to the partition I wanted to add space to.
For a non technical person like me, using the Aomei Partition Assistant Home Edition v5.1.2 was very easy. The only challenge for me was to find the right way to complete the task. Initially I was trying to "Resize the partition" but it ended up that I had to "Allocate free space" from partition (D:) to my partition (C:), the one needing the additional space.Once that task understood, it was just a question of following the easy instructions. Great tool, congratulations to the "Aomei Partition Assistant team". -

I got it as a promo so I cannot complain. I tried it out and it looks fancy.

I was not able to complete the operation I needed, but this is a good thing! It might have messed up my Apple Mac OS X 10.6.8 partition otherwise.
Summary
It seems to be good so far. I only give this review a one star out of five because I am scared of the complex features. I do not want to mess up my system. I hear that partitioning the boot record can possibly damage your system startup. I cannot afford right now to lose three partitions just because it is not done properly. I would say stick with Microsoft Windows built-in partition manager for safety. However, if I had another computer I would test this out more thoroughly. In the mean time, I am grateful to the producer for the promo and giveaway. It might come in handy so I cannot complain.
Updated January 11, 2013 Central Standard Time Zone - Friday. Jesus Christ! I have been given a promo version of the professional edition. I have AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional 5.1 from a site that gave 1 of 10 generous licenses away. I am really happy with my license and feel very lucky to have it. However, I do want to caution others to be careful using this program because it does perform complex operations that might mess up your boot sector. Always have a full and complete backup of your entire hard drive before using this program. I am humble that it seems God protected me from losing all my data. It was not a big problem. Just the boot partition was messed up so it looked like I lost everything. You need your Microsoft Windows install disc to repair it.

I liked the program when I first downloaded it a while back but when I tried to update to the new version the first selection window had font so small it was Impossible to read even after increasing font size on screen and even with a magnifying glass! I just unchecked everything to keep it from resetting my homepage and putting unwanted software on my computer the way Most programs do if you do the "standard" install.
The download had issues and once completed it crashed my Explorer and even a re-boot would still not allow explorer to work. It even locked up other programs and the task manager could not close anything, I had to do a Hard shutdown. Even after re-boot when I tried opening a program everything just locked up again and task manager still would not shut it down so had to do another hard shut down. Then I booted in safe mode and found 7 Malware programs it still installed on my computer even after unchecking Everything before downloading!Summary
After removing all the malware programs and running a malware program to get the remaining stuff removed and having to use File Assassin to remove some stuff that was locked my computer finally began working again.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE 5.1.1 VERSION!!!
