ZS4 Video Editor is video editing and compositing software which aims to provide media experts with a facility to combine a variety of media types (currently photos, videos, and audio files) into one (or more) output file(s). ZS4 Video Editor can be used like an object oriented photo-manipulation program with a timeline: things that can be manipulated in a photo (workshop) program can be manipulated in ZS4 using parameters which alter over time.

It was free! Otherwise I would be stopping payment ASAP! The UI is out of the 80's. I don't think the designer(s) have ever used a REAL program. It's supposed to have killer functions......but ....some things just aren't worth it. I even tried the other version. Worse. And I didn't think that was possible. And I started programming in 1982. Also taught programming for 6 years. None of my advanced students would have dared turn in work like this! My grade: D- (and that's only because it loaded and seems to run)
Summary
If you want it free, keep looking. 50% of my software is freeware, so good stuff is out there.

The user interface is one of the worst I've ever seen.
Summary
If you follow their tutorials you can find out how to do certain things, but if you think you're going to just figure it out yourself forget it. You'll probably need to invest a lot of time learning the basics of this application; with that same investment you could probably leverage a lot more usability out of a commercial package. It's really too bad because this application looks like it has some great functionality, if they would just spend a little time learning about how to design a UI.

I've been down this road before with other software from them. Yet, just when you think they've actually improved their product, they show they've STILL got A LOT to learn about software programming.

Unless you know a little something about software programming & software code, THIS IS NOT WORTH THE DOWNLOAD!!!!!

It didn't load up at all so no pros

it didn't load up at all and when i tried to uninstall it 4.4mb is still there and i need permission to get rid of it? permission from who? its my computer! don't bother with its all a con.

it didn't load up once installed and now i cant fully uninstall it but like 4.4mb wont delete or nothing? any ideas on how to get rid of it?

1) The price, it's free. 2) Features. This program has some incredibly powerful features for a free video editor. It's features are comparable to that of Final Cut.
Cons
1) The interface. It's terrible. No, that's giving it too much credit. It's got to be the ugliest, slowest, most error ridden and confusing interface EVER! 2) The learning curve. It's HARD to use. 3) It's VERY slow. 5 minute clip renders take hours

If t&b could just fix the interface... then they might be taken seriously... I honestly best there are some features of the program that are not even possible to use because they forgot to put them into the interface... and even if they are, I bet most people will get too frustrated at the POS interface before they figure out how to use whatever feature they are looking for. It's not for the faint of heart... for a lot of people, it's worthless, because it is not worth the inconvenience. It's terribly cumbersome, but this thing has the best features out of ANY free editor. (I would not have bothered writing this if that were not so) If you can pay the $$$$ for something like Final Cut, do it. If you want something like windows movie maker with some extra features... you will not get much out of it. But if you need the same features as something like Final Cut and can't pay thousands of dollars for it, this is the closest thing you can find. (If I'm wrong, please correct me... really, I'd love see something better.)
