Yahoo Message Archive Decoder reads Yahoo! Messenger archive files (.dat files) and presents them in a format that you can read. Unlike the utility provided by Yahoo! Messenger, using this program you can decode them without connecting to the Internet as long as you have the .dat files. You don't need the password of the message archive owner. This software supports decoding of normal conversation messages, private messages, conferences, SMS/Mobile Messages and .hst files to HTML or plain text, complete with time stamps, smileys and font formatting (typeface, bold, italic, underline, font size and colors). It supports Unicode text (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and all non-Latin characters).

It does the job neatly, decodes the archive in a nice manner.
Cons
Numbers, addresses and links can not be viewed in the trial version.
Summary
Most of the information gets masked in the trial version. Numbers, addresses and links can not be viewed. If your friend had told you their age, you can not see that number. If there was a phone number, you can not see that either. If there was an email address, that get's masked too. What's the use?

Potentially a very useful tool.
Cons
Can't install the program. McAfee says that it contains a trojan called Generic PWS.y which is a password stealer. According to McAfee, this program can potentially scan your hard drive for passwords and send them to the trojan creator.
