XEmacs is a graphical- and console-based text editor which runs on almost any Unix-like operating system as well as Microsoft Windows. XEmacs has an active development community numbering in the hundreds, and runs on Linux and nearly every other version of UNIX in existence. XEmacs is a customizable open source text editor and application development system. XEmacs text-editing features commands to manipulate words and paragraphs (deleting them, moving them, moving through them, and so forth) and "keyboard macros" for performing arbitrary batches of editing commands defined by the user.
