Wwhois is a full functional command whois program running on windows machines. Unlike other windows whois program (they normally only shows Domain Name, Registrar, Whois Server), Wwhois exactly shows all of the domain information as Linux whois4.5.X does (including Domain Name, Registrar, Whois Server, Administrative Contact, Record expires date and Record created date). Instead of check your desired domain name from web-based search engine like (networksolutions.com, register.com.) or need a linux machine, Wwhois is a convinient command program for windows users.

Version 2.1 features .org and .us support, user specified whois server support.

Why doesn't Windows ship with a whois command? It has nslookup and traceroute (tracert). If MS wanted to license a whois command to include, this would be a great choice.

Does what you expect when you go to the Windows cmd box and type "whois". If you never do that, then you don't need this. If you do type that and always get surprised when nothing happens.... you want this. Thanks to the kind folks who put it here.

It would appear that the reason anyone would rate this poorly is simply because there were no detailed readme file to explain that it is not an installable windows driven program, but a DOS capable utility that works quite smoothly from a command prompt. If you don't know what DOS is, then you probably shouldn't bother trying to download this utility.

Well, it's 5 A.M. and I searched for this program. I really like smart whois but needed a free program. This one works well but when tested only gave ISP info and no individual info of address assignment.

Definitely a must have for anyone who does a who is search often. Forget about typing in those security keys ever again... just use a simple does command to get immediate answers. =)

Good all round program, and only 60k!! Runs in a DOS prompt and allows easy access to WHOIS information without trailing through slow online databases.
