Copy portions of a desktop to the clipboard and save graphics in the clipboard to a PNG file.
WinSnip is a utility for copying portions of the desktop to the clipboard and saving the graphical contents of the clipboard to a PNG file. This utility is activated by pressing hot keys, and provides for conveniently selecting a region of the desktop to copy. The WinSnip utility can be also used for saving the copied desktop region to an auto-generated PNG file in the current user's temporary folder, in which case the full path to the file is placed to the clipboard instead of the actual graphical contents. This utility may become handy when preparing slides on computer interfaces, composing software documentation, or uploading pieces of graphics to the web, as it saves quite a bit of mouse clicks spent on screen copying, clipping and file conversion.
This is a stand alone program which does just one thing that all the decent multi clipboards here throw in as an extra!
Summary
Perfect time saver for partial screenshot/snip making

Pros
1.In no time (especialy compared with Windows 7 Snipping Tool) and with a single key press creates and places in clipboard a screenshot of a selected region. One more key press stores the screenshot in png file. Irreplaceable tool for those who need to place multiple partial screenshots to presentations, mails or any documents.
2. Works for Windows XP where no built-in Windows Snipping Tool is available.
Cons
The initial dialog to select a key combination should detect keys registered / reserved in the system by other applications and therefore impossible to be used in WinSnip prior to displaying the dialog, not afterwards when the keys have been selected by user and another attempt is necessary. It may be very frustrating sometimes.
