Feebe WebWall, a Web Application Firewall, is a new class of software that protects applications from hackers and other malicious attacks. It enforces granular security policies to protect Web applications as well as confidential information from both random and targeted application security attacks. Feebe WebWall is based on a positive security model that ensures correct application behavior. Because it understands good application behavior, the positive security model does not require attack signatures or pattern matching techniques to detect and block attacks, Feebe WebWall is able to filter all application requests and deny anything that is not legitimate user activity. On the other hand, Feebe WebWall support negative security mode that can filtering known attack including SQL injection, Buffer overflow attacks, worms and so on. Version 1.2.07 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

NOT for even those with some computer knowledge. First thing the program asks for is "domain name" and "IP address" and yes I know what those are but one computer can have more than one of each. On that same page it asks for "listening port" and "public listening port" as I had no idea what that meant I called my internet service provider. He said that this program would do me no good as I don't have a server. So I'm Sure if you understand what the thing is asking for, or have a friend that can tell you, then you'll do great with it. Otherwise, find something different.

I found this product completely by chance, and it is the only freebie I've found thus far whose IPS employs the positive model. It is extremely light on resources, yet it should be able to block malicious attacks (within normal broadband download limits) years from now. <p> <p>The positive security model works by admitting pre-defined, whitelisted protocols, and blocking everything else. This is currently the ultimate power in the software IPS realm, ideal for users who place Internet security at a paramount value. A more familiar name in this league would be Citrix. <p> <p>Every external exploit test (I ain't talking about port scanning) I have tried on this thing has failed. I have absolute confidence in WebWall's protection against Internet attacks over a standard, broadband connection. Next item of business: leaktests (outbound protection).
Cons
Interface opens maximized when you boot into Windows. This should be minimized rather than closed, otherwise you have no protection. This could confuse a novice. <p> <p>Positive security models produce more false positives than the more common, negative security models. While the average user would never know, it is possible such a firewall could restrict activities that more prolific users (i.e. corporations) need.
