Wallpapers HD Lite for Mac

Wallpapers HD Lite is a wallpaper app that offers thousands of high-resolution images for the Mac. The app is a quick download. When launched, a dialog opens with two panes: to the right are a few thumbnails of available wallpaper images, and to the left is a thumbnail preview and two big buttons for rating an image and downloading the selected image in the preview pane. A drop-down selection list in the top right lets you see specific categories of images, or you can choose three collections of recently downloaded images, popular images, or random images.

The free version, Wallpapers HD Lite, lets you download five images a day at launch, or you can upgrade to Wallpapers HD with unlimited downloads for $5.99. Once images have been added to the library you can set the resolutions used for your device with a drop-down list. The image collection is quite good, with several hundred images available when we searched through the lists. The publisher claims thousands of images are available for download, but we didn't see that many in our time with Wallpapers HD Lite.

The quality of the wallpaper images was very good to excellent, and the application seemed robust in the time we played with it on our system. A couple of times we selected one image to download but the Get button downloaded a different image instead, but this wasn't a major issue (you can easily delete unwanted images from the library). It would have been better if there was a timer to allow the wallpaper to be changed at intervals, but as it stands Wallpapers HD Lite offers a good selection of wallpaper in a free application.
