Virtual Sailor simulates the complete sailing experience by enabling the user to enjoy the entire marine environment from a sailor's perspective. Players will experience accurate wind and wave dynamics with this program, which has many special effects for simulating a day or night marine environment. There are huge land and sea areas that were developed using real topographic data. You can even simulate a race with other boats that includes wind shadow effects. Virtual Sailor was built using the latest technology in 3D graphics acceleration and sound mixing. It can also be expanded using open formats for all files, allowing you to add on third-party scenery very easily.

Version 6.0 adds the following enhancements: The sea waves are more realistic and are based upon CFD. The sea graphics is now much more elaborate and realistic. The sky, stars and hemisphere graphics were greately improved. The land is photorealistc and uses new texture blending algorithm. The scenery model has been expanded to include the whole world. Sailing between sceneries is now possible. New panel types were added which allow better control of sailes. Fully interactive 3D instrument panel for boats. The boats have more parts, better wakes and bubble trailes. And more.

I don't know what version everyone else is playing. VS6 has amazing graphics, and has a fully 3D mouse sensitive cockpit. Sure, there's a time limit, but that's for each play, it's not disabled after three minutes.

The people who made this game don't know anything about sailing. I am a sailor and I've never seen a boat fly or hover, whcih is all I saw before the game ended. The maker of this game needs to stop posting reviews, I was really looking forward to playing. Major dissapointment.

Three minutes playing time...enough said. They obviously got some of their employees to post positive ratings for this one. The captain is some sort of midget, so you're staring at the inside of your boat for most of the time. What a dud.
