DV, TV & FM viewer & recorder for Formac Studio & others
Vidi is an application that lets you view and record video on your Mac using any FireWire DV device. It features perfect audio-to-video sync, the ability to watch full frame-rate video while recording, capture directly to DV format, and a streamlined, lightweight user interface. With Formac's Studio DV, Studio DV/TV and StudioTVR devices, Vidi allows you to watch TV, change channels, adjust video settings and listen to FM radio (depending on individual model capabilities).
Really straightforward, will record any video input in a straightforward way. It's tiny. iMovie or my DV camera chopped up footage into dozens of tiny clips and presented them in the wrong order. This solved the problem.
Cons
Its not firewire but it is free.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I just wanted to say that this little piece of software is still working with a Formac Studio TV with old firmware on an Intel iMac with 10.6. Formacs software sh*t isn't ready for 10.6 and denies to start without an expensive firmware update. Shame on you, Formac.

Universal application.

Waited to receive hdtv tuner to write review, hd stations have better resolution than dvd
16 X 9 display option is great
Tuner is plugged via s-video in Pinnacle's MovieBox DV
Until today, i was using standard VHS tuner and results were better than eye-tv
Thank you for such a fine utility, brightness adjustment would be welcomed
Keep up the good work

(Thought the software was very poor - kept crashing!)...My faith was restored - excellent software that actually works! Far better than Formacs' own. Well done - most excellent! :)

I'm watching TV on my mac from a Freebox, using a Canopus DVC110.
Just one thing. In window mode (not full screen), the sreen can go sleeping after some time because of the settings in the energy saver preferencepane. I wish one day the screen could stay at full light when watching the video in window mode.
What else to add ?
Maybe Less processor usage
Also, the ability to work with some video compression app could be nice (mencoder, ffmpeg, or ffmpegX, or quicktime). In that way, In one step, we could have a "Divx" from the recording.
Great job !
