VidBas for Mac allows users to download videos from the Web to view them later while offline, so it may be useful to some Mac owners despite the lack of additional features.

VidBas for Mac comes with a free trial version that restricts the ability to download from the Internet. The complete version requires a $19.99 payment to unlock. The download completed quickly, as did the installation despite the lack of a native installer. Through the program's support menu, user instructions and technical support for updates were present. The main menu was easy to use, but had little in the way of graphics. Users can select whether to save Internet movies as video, audio, or audio and video. The automatic capture from the Web can also be turned on and off as needed, which is a welcome feature to keep the program from saving things like ad videos. Despite the free version's usage limitations, the program captured Web video well and without requiring any user input. Double clicking on the saved video icon takes the user to the save location, which can be modified from the preferences menu. The output video matched the original, even when testing those streamed in HD quality, which was a good feature.

For those looking to capture Internet videos, VidBas for Mac is a basic program that performs well, making it a useful option.

The VidBas menu is simple to use.
Cons
The download queue crashes randomly. The download queue cannot be deleted after videos are downloaded unless the program is closed and restarted, Downloads do not start every time. Sometimes the download starts after the program is restarted. Sometimes it never starts. In comparison, MovieSherlock downloads the same video first time every time. Technical support is nonexistent.
Summary
MovieSherlock offers superior performance.
VidBas works fine! No bugs. Simply superb video tool

Pros
I've installed it on my Mac, the installation was swift and easy. All the settings are present, and you get guidance as well in pop-up window. But what's the most important: VidBas downloads web videos very well, all kinds of videos from the Internet are downloaded really fast! There's also an option to stop automatic downloading of videos if you wish. Great program for Mac!

Nothing, works fantastic
Summary
It's the best alternative to numerous websites that let you download the video by inserting its link. Unlike other programs VidBas doesn't require inserting any links - it just grabs videos from websites on its own, without any special efforts from user. I love VidBas! Excellent!

Pros
The program has nice interface. It's easy to use. VidBas downloads ALL videos I tried (and I tried many, including YouTube, Vevo, Hulu, DailyMotion, Vimeo..). With it you can save the output either as video, audio, or both. I had no problems using VidBas on my Mac OS 10.4 at all. Works great!
Cons
Free version has limitations. As to the bugs or errors: I experienced no difficulties using VidBas.
Summary
VidBas is a very good program for downloading videos from the Web to your Mac.

There are none.
Cons
No instructions. No settings. You just launch the program and it does nothing but open a little window. It will not record videos from the internet, youtube.... basically is complete dead weight. Appeals to customer service get no reply. All they are doing is cashing the checks.

There is a nice feature in being able to save separate audio, video and flash tracks.
Cons
It downloaded the commercial preceding the video but did not download the video itself. There is no working On/Off function. If does not download everything you play. It keeps telling me that there is a newer version available but I cannot find it to download it. There is no manual or any real set of instructions.
Summary
Not worth it as paid software. There are many other FREE programs out there that do the job better. Have requested a refund. We'll see if they bother to respond.

download of full hd videos, 11 concurrent downloads worked just fine! Not limited to youtube / daylimotion etc sites. Worked with each web site I tried it! Bravo!
Cons
Asks for password at start up, but I guess they need it to do the job. Well its still asks every time - can they remember the password?
Summary
