• Vi3Dim 1.2 still : unfinished unstable

  Pros

  - at 20 USD very cheap - the idea (version 1.2) is good and maybe even better with version 2 - software is very small (file size)

  Cons

  - unstable (Windows XP 32bit and Windows 7 64bit) feel like an unfinished beta version - user interface not user friendly - you might need a HighDef (720p or 1080p) webcam to get any useful models

  Summary

  I liked their video demos and bought it (v1.2) for 20 USD straight away.But it simply didn't work on my systems (win xp 32bit and win 7 64bit).It might have been a great idea in 2010 but today (2013) you can get a Microsoft Kinect(or any other depth camera) or use the free cloud services like 123D Catch from Autodesk. To be fair they ask you to download their demo version before you buy and their documents /help pages give you a clear insight into the limitations.

  Pros

  June of 2012 Mplayer became stable.. Getting aquainted to Vitaly Grosman through emails. Learning not to give up beta testing such a great program.. thorugh Vi3Dim V2...

  When you click on start capture, the whole program freezes. The file handling window is confusing as it is proprietary.

  does not work. Instructions are almost non existent. The pictures of what they seem to show you can do look great, could not even come close. I couldnt get it to work on the free version so I purchased it, and still did not work. So far it is useless

  Summary

  I am a computers systems engineer. I have been in the computer field for over 20 years. I could not get this program to work, I tried it on a Vista computer, a Windows 7 computer and a windows XP computer. I tried everything I could. I even utilized the compatibility mode on all three computers. On my windows Vista computer it crashed every time, could not get it to load. Same with my windows XP computer, crashed before it could even start up. My Windows 7 computer is my graphics computer, it has dual quad processors. I could get the program to load. And after tweaking it I could even get an image on the screen, but whenever I tried to start a capture, everything froze.
