UmiRedi is a mobile application designed for Android that focuses on disaster preparedness specifically for residents of the Solomon Islands. This app provides essential features such as early warning alerts, live incident maps, and tools for family safety planning. It compiles national climate and disaster resilience content and verified alerts sourced from government channels, making it a vital resource for communities across the islands. UmiRedi also offers offline-capable checklists and a national emergency contacts directory, which are crucial for families, community leaders, and local disaster coordinators, especially in remote areas.
The application functions effectively as a daily alert source, issuing verified early warnings and delivering live incident maps to users. It connects national-level warnings with community notifications, enhancing situational awareness for individuals in vulnerable regions. Additionally, UmiRedi is designed for low-connectivity environments, allowing users to access safety plans and preparedness resources without the need for constant internet access. This makes it a practical tool for emergency planning and community coordination.
