If you're a gin-rummy aficionado, this game should keep you entertained for quite a while. Installing Ultimate Gin is a somewhat lengthy process, which makes sense once you see the quality graphics. We liked the fact that we were given the option to play against the computer, a real-life Internet opponent, or a friend on the same LAN. If you choose to challenge the computer, you'll find yourself in a casino sitting across from your opponent, who tries to intimidate you by making rude comments. You can customize the game to your liking, changing your opponent's skill level, the game type, the casino room, the deck type, the shuffle speed, and the music. However, the trial version only allows you to launch the game five times, which seems a bit chintzy. This high degree of configurability, along with the variety of play options, makes Ultimate Gin a worthy pick for any lover of the game.
great when you play like 15 games in one sitting and win but look out....
Cons
cheats too much on the trial download, if they are trying to get people to buy it well guess what after you keep losing awhile you get tired of playing the game. Who wants to loose all the time. No bad game
Summary
I wouldn't buy this software, it cheats you rarely see any Aces, twos threes fours fives or sixes being dealt, this tells me something is off here.
Very good Gin game because of user interface.

Pros
I've played this game for probably ten years, maybe more. It was a DOS program. This was always a good program because of the way it presents the player's hand. You can quickly see what goes where and make decisions about what to play. No other Gin program I've seen comes even close to the usability of this one.
Cons
This would be a five star program to me if it weren't for the tons upon tons of bugs in this version. It has a feature where, if you end the program, next time you run it you can resume the previous game. You'll use that feature a lot, because the program gets confused a lot, sometimes multiple times in a game. I does things like, when you try to discard it will tell you that have to draw, but when you try to draw it tells you that you have to discard. The only way out of these little "features" is to end the program.

Also, the automatic meld selection seems to be less intelligent in this version than in the old DOS one. I feel I have to manually select my melds far more often than with the old version.

But, I still bought it, and I use it.
