Even though it's peppered with hand-holding effects and tools, Cool 3D isn't a tool to be taken lightly. As with all 3D graphics and animation tools, it demands a great deal of PC power to work its magic. The software could use some improvements, such as an interactive tutorial that explains the varied tools and several included examples that show what's possible. A preview function for effects would also help, since waiting for an object to fully render just to see what it looks like is a waste of time. Those caveats aside, Cool 3D delivers surprisingly powerful 3D modeling and text effects in a fairly simple package. If you have a fast machine and a bit of patience, in no time you'll be creating professional 3D graphics you can easily share as bitmaps or as Flash animations.

Corel took my $50.00, and won't offer support!
LoudoomJuly 14, 2013
Pros
Awesome software if you're running XP!
Cons
Windows 7 wouldn't even read the disc. Corel says it will not install in Windows 7 64-bit, and Corel will not offer support. Their solution is to spend more money buying a more expensive Corel product.
Summary
Boycott Corel! You can try this: How to get it working under Windows 7 - 64bit. To Install under Windows 7, you need to first acquire an outdated DirectX dll (d3drm.dll) that was not included with either Vista or Win 7. Win XP will have it in the \Windows\System32 folder. Once you have the dll copy it to the appropriate Windows 7 folder: For 32bit: \Windows\System32\ For 64bit: \Windows\SysWOW64\ Reboot your system. Then you should be able to successfully install Cool 3D (the DLLs will now be able to register). Modify the shortcut so that it is set for Windows XP (Service Pack 2) compatibility). When prompted by the Program Compatibility Assistant when launching Cool 3D chose the Run Program option.
Would not install

Pros
I have used ULead graphics products previously. It was my go-to graphics editor for lettered graphics. Simple, reliable.
Cons
I downloaded it twice, but it would not install either time. The error was that several of its own DLL files were not found. Not happy with that.
Summary
Wish I could try it, but it seems too buggy an install to work. Too bad. I used to like it a lot.
Excellent program - Corel was insane to drop this one

Pros
Very easy to generate 3D text in a wide variety of formats
Cons
Has been off support ever since it was purchased by Corel. Cannot be installed in Windows 7 with out some help.
Summary
I purchased this from Ulead back in 2003 and have been using it ever since. I have been running it under Windows XP until today (when I was able to get it working under Windows 7 - 64bit). That should do it. Would sure be nice if Corel woult ressurect this awesome program and bring it forward with the times (or sell the rights to a company that will).

Worst Product Ever
pixelPeteOzJune 11, 2011
Pros
Looks comprehensive
Cons
Slow!!! Opening a file simple took 100% of dual processor system for 2 minutes. Every action involved a redraw of the entire application. The lite version is snappy and useful but no timeline so not useful for more complex moves
Summary
Don't even bother downloading it. It's a dog. It's a pity becuase it has the right feature set.
