  Pros

  Possible points/finish reporting per entrant. No requirement to "join" anything to submit picks.

  Cons

  No people to talk to, you have to do all support through email or online yourself. It's a pretty high maintenance software imo. Peoples points don't automatically update after games finish, you have to MANUALLY update the site constantly to keep this in real time. Even when it works, it's higher maintenance than free sites imo. There's a reason they don't offer an 800# to call with questions I think, and it's not a good reason.

  Summary

  If I can help one person avoid this software it will be worth it. Constant glitches the last 4 yrs we've tried using it. This is definitely the last year we're going to endure repeated calls from people trying to submit picks and getting errors or their picks not showing up. Set up your pool using free sites like ESPN, CBS Sportsline, etc. Sure, people will have to set up an account through them if they want to submit picks, but after that it's easier to do other pools besides just the NCAA Tournament. And you don't have to manually update points/totals after every round for everyone to see, it's done automatically.

  I stated my pool back in '01 with 37 entries. I now have close to 1000 entries and would not even think about doing it without TT

• Simplify your office pool

  Pros

  My group of 40 or so truly enjoy the website this package produces. Current standings and projections keep those with busted brackets coming back. From a group of 40 I get over 400 page views each tournament day. Users input their selections on the web, the operator downloads entries and results. The package scores the results and uploads the pool standings with three mouse clicks. <p> <p>Customization for ''your pool' is relatively simple. Multiple scoring types are available. Multiple methods for deployment via e-mail, closed network, disk, or web. My group is much happier since I moved to this format. <p> <p>A very good value for the cost.

  Cons

  No scoring for play in game. Menu's are less than intuitive. Management of your website is spread across several pull down menu's. Creating the tournament entry form is done in one selection set. Removing the link is done by un checking a box in a completly different menu set.

• I can't imagine life before Turbo Tourney

  Pros

  I wish I could remember when I started using turbo tourney for the NCAA tournament office pool. I would say maybe 6 years ago. When it first came out I was leery, about buying it. It was $20 then. I figured the worse that could happen was that I would end up doing it manually, like I had been. I had over 120 entrants. So I did what you might call a parallel test. I did both, And it was a bear that year with a lot of bugs. But they kept on issuing updates to work out the bugs, and if you had a problem, support was right there to help. And they have a forum of experienced users who just loved to answer any questions you may have and address any problems. And believe me I had problems. Now, I would not consider using anything else. People can go online to enter their picks and you can display a plethora of reports on your site if you have one or on their site. If I had to point out just one highlight of Turbo Tourney, it would be the report that is generated right after the second round that tells EVERY entrant their best possible finish in the pool and the scenarios for that to happen. I could write about this pool handler forever but I'm limited by space. And EVERY year it just gets better. Just try it once and you'll use it forever.
