TransparentDock 2 is an application that allows customization of the Mac OS X dock. The transparency level of the dock is fully adjustable, from fully transparent to fully opaque, or somewhere in between. An assortment of options are available to enhance the appearance & functionality of the dock, and each can be applied independently, or combined into a theme. A fully customizeable palette allows saving & switching between an unlimited number of custom dock themes. As always, built-in reset options allow returning the dock to its original state.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />As dreaded, Mac OSX 10.4.11 kills TD 2.3.9. 10.4.11 contains Safari 3, which is known to change dock characteristics that render TD unusable. To the developer: Your product was always the best, I loved that you did it without doing illegal commands the way haxies do. I realize this may be the end of the line for TD in its current form, but I always looked forward to using your product, and Thank You for all the development you did do for us all these years. You were(are) the best gui enhancement, and I always appreciated you.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Surprisingly, my dock did not change on the upgrade, but after a forced reinstall of my system, I have lost the luxury. I hope it comes soon. In the meantime, does anyone knoww how to make the Finder icon in the dock "(Re)movable"? I can find nothing about it on the web, and no other utility gives me the option to do it. Being able to put it on the file side of the dock would be even better. Any help is appreciated. Looking forward to your update FRM. :)

It works on my G4 and G5 towers and is absolutely wonderful and I LOVE it. Please get it to work on the new intel Macs. Connie

...again, re-enter prefs..<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I was using TD 2.3.7 perfectly in 10.4.5. Updated to 10.4.6, dock went OEM, but I then re-ran TD 2.3.7, had to reset my preferences again, and all is beautiful again. Very Nice.

By far the first thing I wanted to do after getting used to the OS X interface was change the background of the dock. Honestly, i'm surprised that Apple didn't include the ability to make it transparent from the get-go, but this tool has solved the problem and then some! Not only is the transparent functionality perfect, thiis tool also lets you change the color of the little triangles that appear next running applications and more. I have found this tool to be worth every penny. Note, that the tool does seem to stop working after every major OS X update (10.4.3 to 10.4.4 for example), but the developer has always released an update for TransparentDock within days of the OS X update. I consider this to be a must-have tool for any Mac user.
