• May cause problems

  Pros

  Colorful and animated highway conditions indicators. Likely more useful to those who travel regularly or daily in a monitored high population city. The company's portable device would be valuable in that instance.

  Cons

  My trial version had a super handy, always ready screensaver, but it bogged down and eventually froze my computer. Restoring the computer to a date earlier than the TrafficGuage installation repaired the problem. Without the screensaver, TrafficGuage wouldn't be nearly as handy. <p>It is limited to certain metropolitan areas of the country, which, granted, is where the traffic is worst; but coverage of more cities would make it more worth the money.

  Pros

  Can alert you to big traffic tie-ups which you need to avoid. Or in worst case, you can at least allow enough time so that you won't be late for your appointment. You are in control - you can choose an alternate route (sometimes) which will be faster and therefore less stressful. I purchased the hand-held terminal, so I can get the same info when I don't have access to a broadband connection. Plus you can monitor situations that develop while you are en route.
