Touchpad Blocker disables your laptop's touchpad when you're typing so you don't accidentally click or move a long line of text. It stops your laptop's trackpad from getting in the way of your marathon typing sessions. If you suffer from this problem or have a trackpad that can be very temperamental, then give this neat program a try.

Touchpad Blocker shuts off your trackpad after it detects that you're typing. It sets it for a fraction of a second, but you can turn it off for as long as three seconds if you like -- though that turns out to be a lot longer than you think when you really need to access your trackpad. In addition to changing how long your trackpad remains off, you can change the sound Touchpad Blocker makes when it blocks a click, what keys you press to disable the blocker, and whether or not the program runs when your computer boots up. In addition to blocking accidental clicks, the program completely turns off your trackpad so you cannot even scroll. You can't use the button in the middle of your laptop if you have one, either.

Pros
Just installed it and so far it appears to be doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Oh my gosh, I was able to type that whole sentence without having the cursor jump all over the place. It doesn't help me typos though LOL
Cons
I'm still new at it, so I'm not sure. As I typed this, I had a few touchpad problems, but that may be because I have to adjust some of the settings.
Summary
Works on my Asus Laptop with Windows 8....The Asus Fn 9 key is supposed to do this, but doesn't This makes it work for me.

I just spent over an hour on the phone with hp tech support. They had control of my machine, Downloaded program and tried various things to try to get tis to work on an hp envy with detachable keyboard. No luck at all.
Works for desktop without touchpad too!

The jumping cursor issue is wrongly ascribed only to accidental brushes on the touchpad. But I have had the issue not only on my laptops but also on my desktop which does -not- have a touchpad. I never had this issue on any PC until after running some Windows updates on all PCs a few months ago. Some people without touchpads report that pressing a certain key causes the jump - different for each person. It seems related to the keyboard in some way - perhaps the PC misinterprets the signal from the keyboard. This seems to be a Microsoft issue - apparently doesn't happen on the Mac. But I don't like Macs! So glad to have a solution for all my PCs. Updated on Nov 10, 2015Fyi, I left the first five options checked, turned off the others.
Great product, fixed the typing problem.

Holly cow! This little program really works well. I just bought a new HP and was pretty disappointed it did not have a touchpad shut off toggle. When I type, I tend to rub the pad with my oversized palms. To be completely honest, I am somewhat embarrassed at the fact that I have killed at least 3 hard drives on laptops because I lost my cool and smacked the touchpad! No more. This works very reliably and you can make many adjustments to tweak it just the way you want it. You can even turn your touchpad off with a customizable shortcut key. Found slight sluggish keyboard problem using web-server mail on Explorer, no huge loss, I like Chrome better anyway. It's free and it will make your life soooo much better!

You can set the pause time for whatever works for you. This is perfect for my uses. As soon as I start typing, it stops the touchpad....but for just a 1/2 a second at the default setting. Then turns it back on....then off....then on....as I work, so I don't have to think about it. When I'm typing the touchpad is off...if I want to use it for anything, I just pause a second....and its on. I use it.......then start typing and its off again. Soooo exactly what I needed!
