Editors’ Review
TouchCopy quickly transfers all iPod, iPad, and iPhone content to iTunes or your hard drive with the click of a button. Its user-friendly interface and practical features make it a popular choice for effectively managing Apple device data.
One-click transfers: Though TouchCopy offers a link to a help page, we didn't need to read it to get started. With the click of a button, the program immediately imported all 200+ photos we had saved on our iPad. Likewise, we could easily copy those files to iTunes and our PC.
Listen while you transfer: TouchCopy acts as a music player, allowing us to listen to music files while we copy them to iTunes and our PC.
Generous trial period: You can make 100 copies of your imported files, so you'll have plenty of time to try TouchCopy before buying outright. However, you won't be able to back up your iPad, iPhone, or iPod content, as that feature is exclusive to the paid version.
Backup and restore: The latest version of TouchCopy includes a "backup and restore" feature, allowing users to archive entire devices securely. This addition enhances the app's utility for managing device transitions or ensuring data safety.
Slow to recognize: It took a few tries to plug and unplug our iPad before TouchCopy recognized it.
Pricing constraints: While TouchCopy provides valuable features, the full license cost may deter casual users. A subscription-based pricing model could make it more accessible.
TouchCopy competes directly with iMazing, another versatile Apple device manager. While both apps provide comprehensive file transfer capabilities, iMazing offers greater flexibility in terms of customization. For example, iMazing allows selective data transfer for apps, messages, and specific file types, saving time and storage space. Additionally, iMazing includes advanced device management features like automated backups and encryption options that TouchCopy lacks. However, TouchCopy's intuitive design and built-in music player provide a more user-friendly experience for those primarily focused on transferring media files.
Bottom Line
TouchCopy's streamlined interface and comprehensive file transfer capabilities will please users of all skill levels. Recent updates have expanded its feature set, making it an excellent choice for quickly backing up and managing Apple device content. However, users looking for advanced data management tools might find iMazing's robust functionality a better fit.
