This simple tool allows users to enable and disable Flash animation while browsing the Web, but it offered mixed results when we put it to the test.

One you download Toggle Flash, you may have to manually add the button to your toolbar. As we browsed through various sites containing Flash animation, we clicked the tiny red button, but it was impossible to determine whether the program was enabled or disabled. Hovering our mouse over the button didn't offer us any indication. A change in button color once enabled (e.g., red to green) would definitely help the problem. A DOS-style window popped-up each time we clicked on the button, but Toggle Flash's performance was hit-and-miss. The program disabled the animation on some sites, and failed to do so on others. We also noticed that Web sites where the Flash was disabled were slow to load.

You won't find help with this free add-on and even a brief Readme file would help users get acclimated to Toggle Flash. With so little to go on and considering its spotty performance, we'd rather stick to our current, more reliable means of disabling Flash animation.

Pros
As Flash intrudes on everything and takes over my computer, I like to block it 21/7. I need it on to see my Fitbit steps and will easily turn flash off and on via Toggle Flash. It's just what I want and has worked well for years.
Cons
Stopped working! Yesterday, Flash caused my computer to freeze and I had to crash it out and restart. Today, I noticed that, even though I had Flash disabled, the Flash was again eating my computer. I had to keep going in to Task Manager to delete. I don't know what changed, but I'm pretty unhappy to lose what was a great tool.
Summary
Worked well and easily perhaps since it started. Suddenly stopped working and I'm unhappy. There must be something more controllable than the beast called Flash.
Works as advertised. Easy.

I had great hopes for Toggle Flash but was disappointed with it's degree of success. I use ie8 only occasionally because it has such limited means of disabling flash and other nuissance ads, has limited autofill capability and its slim-pickens on its number of extensions also. And who wants the home button on a different toolbar on the far right of the browser? Little wonder that ie's market share keeps shrinking - I don't get what the developers are thinking. CNET says in it's reveiw "we'd rather stick to our current, more reliable means of disabling Flash animation" - I'd love to know what that "more reliable means" is.

The tool makes blocking or allowing Adobe Flash a breeze?just one click to turn Flash on and another to turn it off. I?m glad there?s finally an easy to use tool like this for Internet Explorer.
