Editors' Review
Users who often work with video files may need to add customized closed captioning. TitleExchange for Mac's complicated menu and lack of user instructions make it a problematic application, despite its basic functionality.
TitleExchange for Mac comes with a free trial version with unknown limitations. A full version is available for a payment of $45. After initiating the installer, the user must accept a lengthy licensing agreement. After this is completed, the program installs into the applications folder. There did not appear to be any technical support available. After a long loading period, the program starts up in a small window with one button for importing files. Once this is clicked, a poorly-designed menu opens, showing dozens of file and setting options. The lack of user instructions was a problem at this point, since this menu was difficult to figure out. After some trial and error, the program does allow the user to designate XML files to be converted into closed captioning formats. After initiating a transfer, the program converts the file to a readable format, well.
Despite its basic functioning, TitleExchange for Mac's lack of instructions and difficult interface mean users should look elsewhere for creating captions.
