This utility provides a very basic solution for tracking billable hours. The interface is rather bland and could be easier to use. For example, to enter client information, you must click an icon instead of just typing information directly into the field. However, we appreciated the fact that Time Fencer sits in the system tray for easy access. Reporting capabilities are far from advanced. You can sort activities by date and print out logs, but that's about it. Surprisingly, the program doesn't let you define user policies or protect data with a password, and you can't collect information from several computers. We had difficulty uninstalling the application, which came as a rather large and unwieldy ZIP file. All things considered, Time Fencer might help save contract workers and very small businesses some time.

Time Fencer automates much of the time-tracking workload. It resides out of the way, in the system tray, and reminds the user to record what has been worked on. With a few clicks, the activity is recorded, capturing real billable hours. Up to 100 people can use the same database. Version 1.1 comes with the following improvements: fixed a bug that prevented the use of activation code if used beyond the trial period. Decreased the download size in half.
