The War in Heaven is a 3D action game that combines fast-paced combat action with uncompromising Christian values. Designed and produced by two professional game developers who openly acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, The War In Heaven was created to provide an exciting alternative to the spiritually dark and blood-drenched games that are so popular today among teenage and adult gamers.

Personal choice is the defining feature of the game. The story is set at the time of Lucifer's rebellion against God. The player takes the role of an angel and decides whether to obediently serve the Almighty as one of the Divine Host, or to join the rebellion and fight in the legions of the Fallen.

Each of The War in Heaven's 12 levels incorporates a distinct Biblical lesson relating to the consequences of following the Divine path of Obedience or the Fallen path of Knowledge. Important spiritual truths such as Fear Of The Lord and Righteousness are revealed in between furious battles with the angels of the opposing side.

The game features a state-of-the-art, non-Euclidean, portal-based engine and 14 distinct types of angels, 7 Fallen, 7 Divine. Divine angels are armed with five weapons to bear against the Foe, while the Fallen are equipped with five different weapons with which to wreak havoc upon the forces of Heaven. The path of Obedience is hard, but true, and while there are rewards to be found upon the Fallen path of Knowledge, evil ultimately demands its own reward.

OK, well: I'm a Christian, a strong Christian and I plan to be a missionary once I finish my Medical Doctorate. So this review is awkward for me. The Bible references are wonderful, and the symbolism in the ease of killing the "bosses" is neat. I didn't see anything that pointed to an obviously poor theological stand (such as fighting demons to save another's soul, as in other games). Also, the controls are simple and the menus are easy to move around in. The graphics are truly 3d, it seems--maybe HEX; so that's an upgrade from Doom.

Even for 1999, this game is lacking in visual and audio elements. The Demo is too small for me to make any major decisions about the game. However, it seems that there just wasn't the time spent tweaking the engine and making characters feel real. Also, the whole idea of Christians immitating the world seems strange? Aren't Christians supposed to be different?

Everything in this game sucks! I felt like I was being evangelized by idiots! Why would anyone make such a terrible game? And, why in the world would someone give you the option of playing two different sides if one side is set up to lose? This game has no real purpose except to attempt to convert people over to Christianity. Well this game fails miserably at achieving the Christian goal of salvation from the mythical place they call 'Hell.' <p> <p>Now, I've heard that their is actually a game out there for PCs and consoles where the Judeo-Christian god is the 'bad guy' and the goal of the game is to defeat him. I've also heard that the graphics on that game are awesome, and the game play is fantastic. Now, that sounds like a game worth playing. <p> <p>This garbage that they call a game belongs in the trash! <p> <p>)O(

' The graphics aren't that great, ' The speed of the game play is pretty slow, ' The sound FX are also cheesy (even I can do WAY BETTER). ' It jams easy and uses tons of your system resources up. The idea for this type of game is good, but the demons die way too easy, don't look scary, and you only have 2 attacks for each weapon (side to side and up and down and the up and down one doesn't even inflict damage). Also when you hit or get hit by a demon it sounds like they somewhat enjoy it, Hint Hint. Over all I would say this game needs a lot of work, but if you have nothing better to do check it out just for a few laughs especially for the sound FX of getting hit.

OK, this thing ran terrible on my athlon 1.2/384 mgs ram. New games don't do that. It shouldn't have anyway, it was just a poorly rendered map filled with crappy polygons. Sidestepping doesn't work, and whether or not demons actually hit you you take damage if you're near them, for no apparent reason. They're not on fire or anything. I didn't make it through the whole demo but that was 'cause my comp crashed 4 times and I finally exorcised this spawn of satan off my hard drive. Whatever you do....DON'T buy/dpwnload this game!
