If you're upgrading your text editor, TED Notepad is worth a look--just be careful to avoid installation issues. TED Notepad looks similar to Windows Notepad but adds a host of tools to its File menu. Among other features, it can convert text case, reverse text, and count the number of words, lines, or paragraphs in a document. As a bonus, you'll find clip-management tools for easily saving and inserting text. On the negative side, the publisher's claim that the program doesn't require installation turned out to be incorrect, and by default the program replaces Notepad during installation, which could cause system errors. You have to uncheck the appropriate box during setup and select installation as a stand-alone program instead. Used as an alternative to Notepad rather than a replacement, this freeware text editor offers text-management tools that most users should find handy.

Pros
- Does what it's supposed to do without getting in the way - Simplicity of Notepad but with some more features that do not endanger its stability
Cons
- The lack of a right-click menu for text selections
Summary
Very good freeware. Knows how to take Notepad's place in every situation so that it's always handy, and it does so rightfully: it's so much better; you will NOT want to go back to Notepad after using this.
Powerful notepad replacement.

Pros
so many options that I don't need anyway. Still good piece of software.
Cons
Funny name! minus one star for the name alone. LoL.
Summary
Brill bit of software

Pros
Good little notepad alternative. Text doesn't roll of the end of the page, ie. drops down to next line, unlike in notepad. Quite a few more option buttons not found in notepad; Font, Copy, Past, etc. Can be used as default .txt extension program and is a very cool alternative. Can be used for writing code too. Have found no flaws in this software.
