Repair and maintain your hard drives and Mac systems.
TechTool Pro is one of the most robust hardware diagnostic tool available for Macintosh. Techtool Pro 12 takes advantage of the latest technologies introduced with the release of macOS 10.15, Catalina. Previous versions of Techtool Pro had to make certain compromises to support earlier versions of macOS. With Techtool Pro 12, we have been able to take advantage of more advanced methods to perform many of the tasks that make up the functionality in Techtool Pro. We have updated many of the tests and tools to use these technologies to keep your Mac running smoothly. Techtool Pro supports iCloud Drive. Simply download the new Techtool Remote iOS app (free on the App Store), and open it. Techtool Pro will then send test results to any iOS device logged in to the same iCloud account. So if you have a long test (or tests) running that you want to know the results of, but you need to hit the road, you can now get notified of your results anywhere you have an internet connection.
It should be noted that TTP (like the other serious fixit apps) is not yet compatible with High Sierra. (This is not a complaint. It's not Micromat's fault, but the nature of dealing with the new file system.)
Cons
Bad idea (Micromat's, cnet's?) to put this up just now, right after 10.13 came out. Such timing misleadingly suggests this is a new, compatible version.
Summary
Works relaibly as advertised
gbdoc
Pros
Works reliably as it should, latest updates (now 9.5.1) better and faster than before. Been using this since it was a pup, and it's never caused me any problem. The eDrive is a big help.
One thing: if you have a really serious problem (as, over 30 years, I've had twice, initially looking like I'd lost all my data), it's a good idea to have more than one of these industrial-strength fixit apps (I have DW). Since they work somewhat differently, what one can't fix the other usually can - and sometimes you have to run them each a few times (as I did, with success).
Cons
None for me. Obviously, your mileage may vary.
Summary
If your data is really important to you, you shouldn't be without this, plus one other, plus good backup (bootable is best).
Not worth either time or money. Total waste of both
vttimwhite2
Pros
None. Not any.
Cons
Poor (if any) explanations of errors found. I don't have much confidence in the tests themselves. Tried to run memory test and got a one-word result: "error". I already knew I had an error, I was hoping to avoid swapping 8 modules in and out to find the bad one. Disk tests are easily done with the Mac Disk Utility. Other than that, I have a pretty gauge that shows my 1,000 mbps network connection (knew that) and another pretty gauge that shows I have a 2.8GHz processor (knew that, too).
When tests are running, there is practically no way to know if they are really running, making progress, or hung up completely,
An absolute, utter waste of time and money. I thought I might get SOMETHING for my $129.00
Summary
Not worth a single dollar! Not worth the time, even if you can get it for free!
Upgrade from 6.0.8 to 7 did not work
Bold_Sue
Pros
? Upgrade always worked before v.7
Cons
I was advised by eMail that I should install v.7.
I opened TechTool 6 and checked for updates and got ".. v7 available as upgrade". I accepted and it downloaded something probably the dmg and started the installation then said that it would close and replace the v.6. It opened my System Preferences' TechTool Pro where I changed one item and closed this. There was no TechTool application open on the desktop so I went looking for it under the Applications folder but could only find "TechTool 6" which tells me it's not compatible with Mavericks.
If I check for updates, it tells me about v.7 being available but when I select to upgrade, everything goes away and nothing is done. ?????
Summary
There is a glitch in the upgrade from 6 to 7 or am I the only one who gets this?
So far, I have not yet been charged for upgrades.
Works great for me...
digital dude--2008
Pros
I've been using this product since version 4 and version 7.0.2 is the best so far. It works flawlessly on all four of my hard drives and I run it at 2-3 times a month. I have a Mac Pro 2009 version 4,1 with three internals and one external drive and I'm running Mavericks 10.9.2 (beta). Though I have used Disk Warrior with good success, I prefer the integration and full-featured set of Tech tool Pro.
Cons
The task of 'Defragmentation' takes awhile so be sure to set the energy savings in your System Preferences to 'Never' to make sure your Mac won't go into sleep and stop the Tech Tool processes'.
Summary
The key to successful operation of this program is to first and foremost make a backup of your existing drive! Next, run the 'Rebuild Directory' which will dismount the drive that it's repairing, so give it time. Follow with 'File Optimization' and then 'Defragmentation" and finally, 'Repair Disk Permissions'. if your drive has been neglected for a long time, these procedures can take a good part of the day.
They sold my email address to spammers
paradise2012
Pros
The software is great but...
Cons
I have my own domain, and I can make up any number of email addresses, so I do. Anytime a company asks for an email address, I use the name of the company@mydomain.com. Then I can see when I get junk mail who's responsible. Not many companies do it, but these guys did.

Who did you fire to fix this product?
afterhours
Pros
Does not automatically install system panes or activate deamons.
Cons
None yet...
Summary
Because, Micromat, this is a functional tool again. Gone is the arrogance of installing a System Preference pane automatically. You actually ask me if I want extra parts to be installed. You actually let me choose to have deamons running or not. You have a (slightly) cleaner interface. You have a product in 7.01 that doesn't crash. That seems to do its job with most of the warts of v5-v6 gone.
I'm not sure I can say it's love at first sight like MacEKG, but it's thus far a useful (and pleasant) surprise over the last few version. It won't be our only tool, but it'll be part of our toolbox again. Thanks for listening to your customers.
Used this program to try and optimize my hard drive.
Tazdevilgreg
Pros
None it does not work, in fact it unmounted my hard drive and could not get it back.
Cons
Not only didn't do the requested repair but dis-mounted my hard drive and could not get it back.
I thought I had lost all my data but decided to purchase Diskwarrior to try and get back what techtoolspro6 had destroyed. God bless Diskwarrior it saved the day.

Destroyed the data on my HD
brett12356
Pros
The defragment worked a number of times before finally ruining my HD
Cons
Drive on my MacBook Pro became corrupt and unbootable after defragmenting with this tool, which is apparently common.
None of the other 'features' were useful over the years
Summary
Stay away from this, just keep your HD with at least 15% free space and the Mac file system automatically keeps your drive from becoming fragmented.
