It takes only a few minutes to create these short videos and they can be instantly shared to your Facebook or Twitter accounts. With so many photo and video sharing apps on the App Store already, how does Takes stack up?

When you first open Takes, you are given a short tutorial. With only four screens, the tutorial manages to show you every feature you'll need. Because the app boils everything down into an elementary, streamlined process that can be performed with only a few quick taps, it is immediately accessible. It has more robust features, however, including importing photos from your photo library or Facebook account and you can choose which photos end up in your video, as well as the soundtrack playing in the background and the captions displayed. There is also a list of popular Takes in recent days and if your friends are connected on Facebook, you can view theirs directly from the app.

Takes is a unique video creation tool that takes very little time to pick up and use and that integrates perfectly with a number of different social networking services. This makes it a potentially popular service. Small videos, easy to share, and quick to edit and upload, Takes work as advertised. While additional features for editing and customizing the flow and look of those videos would be welcome in future editions, this is a good early effort.
