Version 7 of Synk Pro is not suited for efficient work.

Pros
Version 6 (or 6.5) was a really good backup software and it seems they are working to improve Version 7. Nice for playing around but not for real work.
I really hope that a new version is bringing back the features of version 6 and 6.5.
Cons
Synk Pro 7 is not useful for normal backup, all the nice and very helpful features of version 6 are gone in version 7. It is supposed to be used for synchronisation but not for general backup. Even synchronisation is extremely slow and very often there are messages like "wait to Run" or explanations why it does not yet synchronise. One has to approve synchronisation again and again. It is completely unclear according to what system synchronisation is taking place. Sometimes even after hours of waiting synchronisation does not take place what has been done in Synk Version 6 within a few minutes. In contrast to Version 6 one does not really see if synchronisation is really proper and also it seems to me that without very careful observation all possible things that could go wrong one might delete whole folders instead of backing them up. In contrast version 6 and 6.5 was kind of fool-proof, you really had to make grave mistakes to mess up the backup.
Summary
I would not recommend to buy it until a completely revised version is coming out. Version 6 (and 6.5) unfortunately does not work any more on Yosemite.

Pros
Simple interface.
Cons
Doesn't keep your data synced up at all.
Summary
First off, I have been a Synk user since 2008 starting with Synk 6.5. Loved it. Then they came out with Synk 7 and Synk 6.5 stopped working right on 10.7.
I have noticed that Synk 7 DOES NOT keep files synced at all. For example, I use the USB approach. I have 4 scripts which Synk is supposed to run. It frequently failed to find the USB drive's path even if the drive booted up with the mac. And, several of the scripts would say they ran, but they did not update anything. I had a major problem with files NOT being up to date between the two computers. Synk 6.5 worked perfectly. Synk 7? Not at all.
PLUS the "support" person, Tony Gonzalez, doesn't supply support at all. In fact, they don't even have a developer working on the program at the moment.
Save your money, don't buy this. Try Chronosync instead. It is basically Synk 6.5 but it works correctly on 10.7 and 10.8
Great for keeping my Macs in sync!

Pros
Fairly intuitive, "set it and forget it" when creating scripts, syncs my info between two Macs, easy to identify script issues, live sync is super fast.
Cons
A little pricy, could be easier for less tech-savvy users.
Summary
I bought an iMac last summer, but after becoming self-employed recently, I realized I could benefit from being able to work away from home. As I researched which Macbook to buy (I got the 13-inch Pro in case you're interested), I realized I needed a way to keep files in sync between both machines.
Essentially, I wanted two things - my desktop and all my documents - to sync between both computers without a lot of manual action required on my part. If I work with a client file on my iMac, I need access to it if I grab the Macbook and leave the house. I thought about using my Dropbox account, but I didn't want to waste a lot of time dragging files back and forth, plus I didn't want to pay $10 a month for extra storage.
Synk Pro is exactly the solution I needed. After setting a few scripts, Synk Pro went right to work syncing my files over wifi. Now when I delete something from my desktop on the iMac, it disappears from the Macbook's desktop within seconds. If I download a file, it appears instantly on the other machine with no action required. This is as simple as it gets, folks.
If I need to leave the house, all I have to do is look at the Synk Pro indicator in the menu bar to make sure it's not actively syncing. I can throw (I mean place lovingly) the Macbook in my bag and hit the road, knowing that the files I need will be there when I reach my destination. Synk Pro is unobtrusive and very easy on system resources - unless there's an error, you hardly know it's there.
I do think the interface could be simplified a little for people who don't know much about computers but still want their information to sync. For instance, I can't imagine my grandfather (who uses a computer regularly) being able to figure out what to do, even with the help/hints enabled. That said, Synk Pro has been a wonderful solution for me and I'm thrilled that I decided to give it a try.
Covers many holes left by Time Machine

Pros
* Live syncs so that I always have an up-to-date backup
* The best way I've found to keep my notebook and desktop computers synced
* Keeps an always-current bootable backup
* Very helpful user support

Summary
An excellent solution, both for for syncing files between computers and for keeping a backup on an external drive. After the initial backup was complete, day-to-day syncing of files is very fast (pretty much immediate). I use this to keep docs in my Documents directory synced between my laptop and my desktop machines, and it's worked flawlessly at that. At first I was going to use Dropbox, but the monthly fees would mean that Synk Pro pays for itself in less than a year. I also keep a bootable backup on an external drive, so that if my internal drive esplodes I can immediately recover. The Pro version allows you to create exclusion rules, so I can prevent unneeded files like .DS_Store from being copied. The developers are very responsive to problems, and keep making things better and better. A great application!
Very buggy, causes system problems.

Pros
Nice interface, looks better than old synk.
Cons
I ran a backup script and some files were deleted in my source directory. The log file functionality in the previous synk has been removed. The Synk infrastructure causes problems with mounted network volumes.
Summary
If you are used to the reliability and simplicity of Synk 6, this program will be a big disappointment.
Very useful for maintaining a bootable backup.

Pros
Continuously monitors my hard drive and copies changes to the external as they occur. Doesn't consume resources, after the initial run. Works unobtrusively in the background, unless I want to change the script.
Cons
None, so far.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've been using Sync Pro for several months now. Prior to v6.2, it was pretty buggy. It didn't crash much, but had lots of problems with deciding whether a file needed backing up. (Have a look at the Synk forums at the developers site for an accurate snapshot of the problems people are having with the software.) v6.2 however is a very solid product. No crashes and handles my backup needs without errors. The best feature of Synk is that it has a daemon that can do all the backup chores without the main app running. Very convenient. The only issues I have now is that the new GUI in v6.2 was initially a bit confusing, and Synk doesn't gracefully deal with scheduled backup operations to network drives when I disconnect my computer (laptop) from the network for travel. It doesn't crash, but scheduled operations don't automatically resume when reconnecting to the network. I've been told that the authors are working on this though.
Amazing apart from crashes

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is on its way to becoming the best sync tool out there - but it crashes way too often and it's a real shame!
It's a bit hard to tell whether something has synchronized successfully or not after a crash and the overview is a bit flawed and confusing - I have lots of different folders to sync and now I don't know which have synced and which haven't. Then I have to go through one by one and check what's going on. Some will say it's "Running" when in fact it isn't - it just freezes in "running" mode after the crash.
Also, renaming is buggy - after doing a preview or a run if you try to rename a script it won't let you until you restart the app.
It also won't allow you to change a folder, you have to delete it and add it again.
I would happily buy this if it worked as all the other sync apps out there suck real bad :-(
Please guys, fix these things up, can't be that hard!
Buggy!!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />The application has a great potential, but has lots of bugs.
* The Italian localization is faulty, and you have to disable it, otherwise synk is unusable
* synk crashes randomly when filtering backup logs
* asks for fixing root privileges on every launch, no matter if you enter admin password upon request. I guess this happens when you move the application elsewhere on your hard drive after first configuration.
The developers seemed very responsive in the beginning, but after a couple of e-mails they decided to ignore my support requests.
The application seems very nice, but has lots of annoying bugs, and you can't rely on a lunatic support service.
Beware.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I had some problems early-on (noted in comment below). I contacted the developer who worked with me to troubleshoot the issue. Ultimately it was an unusal situation in my system setup, and he was able to get to the root of it.
Now that the application is working correctly, it is such a pleasure to use. It is very simple to work with, very intuitive, and quite nicely thought out. I was able to get the application working without reading any manuals or instructions and it functions quite well.
Best backup application I have tried thus far.
In addition, it was a pleasure to have the developer so integral to my success. He was extremely responsive and helpful.
