SyncTwoFolders for Mac creates an identical copy of a folder for other uses. Its interface is easy to use and its tutorial breaks it down well enough for even the most inexperienced users to get right to work.

After its initial startup, SyncTwoFolders for Mac brings up a window with basic instructions and a warning to use caution to prevent the loss of data. It also explains the simulation function, allowing the user to double-check the output before initiating the program. The actual program includes a simple menu with a button to select the source and target folder using a file finder. The user can then select from several sync options, where the destination folder is either completely replaced or just supplemented with additional files from the source folder. They can also designate items to ignore or treat differently by the program. The program also lets the user simulate synchronization during which no files will be removed or replaced. This is quite useful if the user isn't really sure what will occur if they choose to synchronize. A checkbox turns the simulation function on and off, helping new users protect data. A few of the buttons toward the bottom of the window are not labeled and have unclear functions, but the basic operations are easy to find and use.

SyncTwoFolders for Mac works well for those users who need to create matching versions of two sets of files for later use.

What’s new in version 2.0.2

Changed the copy mode, now can choose between "Copy with Xojo" (default), "Copy with AppleScript (Finder)" (was the default in previous version) and "Copy with Shell Command".

I have been trying to find a way to sync a drobbox folder with an external harddrive for when I need to work on a computer at school that I am not allowed to add the dropbox software. So I sync my dropbox folder to my external hard drive and use that when I am on my school computer then sync it up when I get home so I can work with the most updated data and keep a backup on the cloud.
Good for a free app but quite slow over a network

Sync two folders by overwriting older with a newer one.

Choose a Source Folder and a Target Folder. Synchronization in reciprocal Mode: A file present in one folder and not in the second will be copied, a file older will be replace. Read About SyncTwoFolders for more information, and use Help Tag. Let Simulation Checkbox Checked first to be sure of what this program will do (in Simulation mode, no files are copied or erased). There're a Mac PPC version and a Mac INTEL version, please watch which one you download.
