Many utilities aim to control programs that are automatically launched at Windows start-up, but some features of StartupStar make it worth using. The program lets you add new applications to your start-up and assign various states to them: launch once, launch on every start-up, run as a service, run for all users, or run only for the current user. It reads from the start-up folder, the Registry, and from the win.ini file. StartupStar creates a backup of all settings you can use to restore your original settings. You can remove or temporarily block any application in the list. The interface is not very handy, however. For example, you can't quickly view details of all start-up applications at once. We also found it inconvenient to temporarily disable applications. Despite these drawbacks, both home and business users should find StartupStar worth a whirl.
