Visually compare & merge files.

Diff. Graphically shows the changes between two files. Includes intra-line highlighting and full support for editing.
Merge. Graphically shows the changes between 3 files. Allows automatic merging (when safe to do so) and full control over editing the resulting file.
Folder Diff. Performs a side-by-side comparison of 2 folders, showing which files are only present in one file or the other, as well as file pairs which are identical or different.
Configurable. Rulesets and options provide for customized appearance and behavior.
International. Compatible with 42 different character encodings.
Cross-platform. Identical feature set on Windows, Mac OS X, and Unix.

Great tool in a pinch.

Pros
Great, quick file comparison and you can select what you want to merge in from each file. And the price is just right.
Cons
You don't get all the pretty bells and whistles you may get with paid apps.
Summary
I am a lone developer, so I don't need these tools often. Today I was needing one so I was looking for something that would get the job done without having to shell out $50 and this worked fabulously. Not only did it show me the differences between the files it let me keep the changes I wanted from each file so I ended up with one file that had everything I needed.
Good freely available multi platform comparison tool.

Pros
File comparison is good. If it had syntax highlighting it would be perfect.
Cons
Directory comparison is not good enough. When comparing directories i can sync two different files but there is no way (at least that i am able to find) to copy a file which exists only in one of the directories to the other directory.
Summary
All in all you get what you pay for. SourceGear DiffMerge is good enough to get the job done.

Had purchased Differences Examiner (US$19) and also tried BBEdit's built-in Find Differences function, but DiffMerge beats them both, hands down. Intuitive and easy to use, packed with very useful features, and FAST! And free...go figure. You have to try it.
