This free remake of the classic Snake game breaks no new ground but can help kill a few spare minutes every now and then. As in the original, your job in this knockoff is to maneuver your snake so it eats all the apples on the board, but doesn't crash into the wall. Considering the reptile grows longer with each apple, things can get quite challenging after a few moments, but if you find yourself bored on the easier levels, you can ramp up the game's speed. Snake's graphics are as rudimentary as they come; the snake actually just looks like a long red line, lacking eyes and a tongue. We also found the MIDI-based music quite cheesy, so we were glad to be able to disable it. Other features include the ability to play against up to three other humans and design your own levels with an editor. Younger players and office workers on break likely will find this game an acceptable diversion, especially since it costs nothing.

money scam, scam is a scam regardless of where the money goes

Pros
I didn't get to play the game because once installed, you have to register and donate $5 to a charitable organization. I would be very willing to donate and support the cause if it wasn't presented the way it was. Your downloading freeware but then it says, "if you want to play this game, you have to register and donate $5 or equivalent....." and that's where I stopped reading because I don't care if the money goes to the most deserving charity in the world when I'm being scammed into it.

CNET and the people that made this game should make it known from the beginning that the game requires a $5 donation to a known charitable organization in order to play it even once! Like I stated above, I would have been more than glad to support the cause if they didn't present it in the form of a scam. Scam is a scam regardless of where the money goes.

This is the PC implementation of the Apple SnakeByte game I've been waiting for almost 20 years! <p>And it also runs very well in Windows 2003 Server :)
