Pros
It's feature packed for an amazing price (free)!
Cons
Very picky cons, but I wish the tabbing for indenting of multiple lines worked a little more like TextPad for the PC.
Summary
One of the best text editors for OSX I've used so far since switching from a PC.
Simple, intuitive, nicely designed. Don't let the name put you off!

Pros
I was looking for a good alternative to OS X's Text Edit for editing my html and other web code files. Text Edit doesn't have line numbers or respect indenting from other programs, among other things a hand-coder is looking for. Smultron (don't know what the story is behind the name but it doesn't create quite do the program justice in my opinion), was perfect. It keeps things simple so there's pretty much zero learning curve, it gets the job done nicely and is designed well. What's especially nice is how multiple opened files are listed vertically in a panel on the left. So you can see what's open and easily jump from one file to the other.<p>Overall, just a nice, simple but very well done program that I really appreciate for being restrained by resisting the temptation to be full-featured and all things to all people. I think many other programmers who just want to get into a code file, make some hand edits without "helpful" automated functions interfering with their work (i.e. Microsoft "helpful"), and get out, will love it too.
Cons
What would be nice, as I'm pretty sure it is not possible in this version, is the ability to grab a file from the "open file" panel and just drag and drop it to, say, a Fetch FTP window (and vice versa), so that you don't have to have a separate Finder window open through which you do your FTP exchange.<p>Maybe a name change might make this more attractive on first impressions or else an explanation of the name right in the program description.
