This is a neat little application; and the developer seems to be very supportive and attempts to solve any problems. If you need to send international SMS, it may be the best product I've seen. Now for the issues. I live in the USA and have a ported number. When I couldn't receive messages, the developer did fix my number; but what about other ported numbers I send messages to? What if they never know they didn't receive one? Also, I use Verizon Wireless; and any REPLIES I send are not received. (Of course, I could start a new SMS to the sender; but that's another aggravation you have to hope people remember to do.) This application started me on the road to find a great solution. For me, since I don't need to send international messages, I simply use iChat to send AIM to mobile phones; and they can reply just fine to iChat. When I leave home and have not received my replies, I just turn AIM on in my mobile phone and my replies are delivered that way. This works well; and I don't have to rely on people remembering to do the correct thing to reply to me. THIS IS A NEAT LITTLE APPLICATION THOUGH.

• Bad unicode handling

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />There is a problem with the unicode. Before, there was an alert "Do you want to use unicode?" and it was possible to say yes or no. Now, it just switch to unicode mode, without asking, which increase drastically the number of SMS needed to send the text, since a unicode SMS can only contain 70 characters instead of 160. One could say, it is a quite effective way to increase the number of SMS sent, and thus increase your profit. The second problem, is that, if you type a unicode character after the 210th character, it tries to switch to unicode, but since the message is then more than 3 unicode SMS (210 characters), it just cut the SMS. Indeed, it is not possible to concatenate more than 3 SMS. Which is very very annoying. No command-Z either. So you have to retype. I hope this will be corrected very fast. I think, the best solution would be to have an option to have this unicode characters automatically converted in ASCII. Or at least some of the more easy to convert (all the ascii with accents, where you just have to suppress the accent, e.g.). I take the opportunity to ask again for a spellchecker and an history of the sent SMS's. I think it would be quite nice. But the delivery of the SMS is very very good. The best I saw until here. (I add this because otherwise my post may seem a bit harsh, doesn't it? ;)

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This may or may not be the best way to send SMS text messages from my Mac but it was the one I tried first and it just works. I see features being added such as reply to email - thats cool. (thoughthat specific feature is not apparently available for US users) I would like to add this on the fly rather than a config setting but its still good to have. I have never had any problems with this appand I can recommend it. I also use the author's URL Manager Pro and trust his comittment to mac software. Brian

It's EXACTLY what I've been wanting - the ability to send SMSs without having to scroll through lists of names or bother with complex website login processes. I use SMSes a lot and doing it on my phone is a pain. <p>Also, in Australia, SMSes costs &#36;A0.25 each, so 10 euro cents is a lot cheaper. <p>My suggestions to improve the program though: <ul><li>In the Dashboard widget, is it possible to add a key command to send the SMS without having to press the envelope button? It could be CTRL+Enter or similar to prevent accidental sending. <li> When I have it set up for multiple instances in Dashboard, it seems to lose the recipient & colour settings for each instance of the widget when I restart. <li> Since many of us use a Mac at home and a PC at work, would it be possible to create a Konfabulator version of the widget? <li> For people who don't have a PC that's fast enough to cope with Konfabulator (unfortunately I have to use a Pentium II with NT 4.0 at one of my workplaces) could you make a password protected web page that would allow the sending of SMSes through the service?</ul> <p>I know the last two suggestions may not be a core part of your plan given you're developing for Mac, but it would of course encourage the consumption of SMS credits, which would ultimately boost your revenue stream.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />It's reliable and easy to use, and it intergrates so smoothly with Address Book! I can send quick notes from Chicago to my daughter in London. She always has her cell-phone handy, so I know I can get her attention immediately and not have to wait until she reads her email. This is well worth the few cents it costs per message.
