• great fast and light editor for BIG files

  Pros

  Lets you open and edit truly large files. Great for dealing with huge, flat data sets. I've opened >10GB files without a hitch. Think of it as an uber-turbocharged NotePad. Search, cut-and-paste, insert, etc. huge files to your hearts content.

  Cons

  Skimedit is an EDITOR. If you only want to look at the contents of a file (and not change it) something like V the FileViewer (another shareware product) is better. Best of both worlds: use V, but configure V to use Skimedit as the editor when needed.

  Trying to edit a 78MB file it is incredibly slow -- even on a 1.7GHZ NT machines with 256MRAM.
