SimpleKeys for Mac produces keyboard shortcuts with completely customizable actions. This premium software lets you assign actions like launching sites, running apps and scripts, entering text, and even allows you to string several actions together. It performs well and can be sized down to a single menu bar icon.

SimpleKeys for Mac features a minimal main screen consisting of two columns: one for the shortcuts, and another for the associated actions. A nice touch is the drag-and-drop support for the shortcuts, allowing a quick and convenient way to back up or share them. Creating a new shortcut is a straightforward process that involves four easy steps: naming the shortcut, assigning keys, deciding whether it should appear in the menu bar, and choosing which applications it should be active in. Note that assigning taken shortcuts will not overwrite the original action. After the shortcut has been created, you can easily add multiple actions to it, like typing text, launching apps, scripts, and Web sites, opening folders, and more. The app even allows you to repeat previous shortcut actions -- a handy feature. Other options include launching the app on startup, hiding the editor when not in focus, and switching the menu bar icon on.

Lightweight and useful, SimpleKeys for Mac won't disappoint you. If you find yourself doing the same actions over and over again, you should try it out. Assigning entire action sequences to a single shortcut will help you get your work done faster.

Developer’s Description

Set hotkeys to trigger macros and type text.
SimpleKeys 2 is a complete rewrite of the popular f-key shortcut program. Now in addition to programing your function keys, SimpleKeys allows you to execute an action with any key combination. Now types as fast as the receiving application can accept keystrokes. Create Macros by combining multiple actions under a single KeyStroke. SimpleKeys now supports drag and drop of shortcuts to and from the items list. This allows you to email a shortcut to a friend, or save it for later. Execute AppleScripts on the files selected in the finder or using the text on the clipboard. Supports all special accented characters. Type text, including the date, the text on the clipboard, and any KeyCombo (ie. Apple-S to save a file). Paste text, including the date. Pause to wait for events to complete. Launch a file with the default application, or with a specific application. Open a URL in your default browser.
